Similar but funnier — or even more inconvenient depending on your POV: I have a Canadian friend who lives in Sydney Nova Scotia, population just over 30,000. He says they have a few people every year who get off a plane thinking they are in Sydney Australia. He says the locals give them warm hospitality before pointing them in the right direction,
Totally off the subject — I became friends with this Canadian because he is an AFL devotee. He fell in love with the game watching on TV. He & wife came to Australia as tourists but with the major objective of watching live AFL. He said to be at the MCG in a crowd of 80,000, more than double the total population of his home town, was an amazing experience.
