It's a given that status runs aren't what they used to be before simple and fairer. Runs that work out less than $2/SC are difficult to find.

While factors like needing to requalify for a particular level play a part, I'm wondering if you have a maximum $/SC at which you rule out a status run?

What's your go/no go rate?

Edit: it might also be useful if you note what currency as this will make a substantial difference.

Intra US, I generally rule out all runs less than $3/sc. That allows me to get where I want to go, assuming I have the time and willingness to travel an indirect route. For MH and JL runs, no more than $4/sc.

I would never do a 'Status run' within Oceania on QF. Waaaay too expensive.

Have done enough travel lately to not need status runs, but as a mental exercise if nothing else I constantly practice USA status run options (all mine start Carribean and Colombia region - starting LAX used to be even better but I don't look anymore)

I can still consistently get sub $2 runs, down to about $1.60 if I really really try. But if starting from Australia the trans-pacific sectors are going to blow this out.

EDIT: I work in USD - not AUD - just FYI

$193 for my upcoming jaunt. Definitely try to keep under $3 but that's getting harder.

I think it all depends on the level of pain involved - destination, sectors, aircraft type, red eyes etc as opposed to just a dollar value.
Personally I think anything up to $3 is acceptable in the US and under this level I'd look for the greatest comfort rather than just the cheapest.

Chose to pay an extra $12 to go to a destination with a lounge, rather than spend 2 hours without one :D

As a guideline, I believe the best QF domestic status runs are now around A$6.5 per SC (or about US$5).

surely you mean rule out all runs *more* than $3/SC?
