I purchased a flight this afternoon and cancelled it shortly after as made I mistake. I asked for a voucher rather than a refund thinking I may be able to use the voucher for a flight later and hopefully get DSC offer. Can anyone confirm that if you get a voucher from Qantas in this was, you can book a flight later and get the DSC?

Edit: I would check with Qantas but I've been on hold for 2:18:25 and I really need to go to sleep

Guilty as convicted. 🤤 Lol.

Also guilty of a last minute booking however annual leave was only approved this afternoon.

Tried to make a booking yesterday with a website time out (have screen shots), then this afternoon tried to make a few more but got multiple errors.

Logged complaints via the qantas website with details.

The view is apparently the credit voucher keeps the original PNR so yes.

As a mistake booking, did the website allow you to swap a Red-E deal tic for a voucher, or was it a Flex fare?

Not directed at anyone in particular but it's been a bit amusing to see human nature is what it is - who remembers waiting till the last minute to do school assignments and the like?

Yesterday was a fine day for making bookings or purchasing vouchers :)

Last night school assignments, the horror! My excuse is I also waited for leave approval, little tricky as this offer straddled a weekend. Had the window been ONE day I’d have made it work somehow, but here I still wanted to apply for rather than presume leave approval.

Contributing significantly was also hunting for the best deals and taking a while to realise some schedule changes later in the year really affected my best laid plans, but in the end I prevailed - now there is just one duplicate booking (caused by the gremlins) that I’ll call to hopefully get ‘recycled’ later on :)

I’m sure many bookings were made but QF could have made it far easier to give them our money. Bookings were probably biased towards status runs but I doubt it sways QF commercially significantly. I don’t think it would be the worst business decision for QF after (IMHO) last night’s debacle to extend the DSC for a few days.

This is rather unbelievable. Qantas was struggling with weak demand and slow bookings, so decided to run a Double Status Credits offer.

And now that people are actually trying to book flights, the website is down and nobody can get through to the call centre.

I am afraid that I don't find this unbelievable at all.

As a result of this offer have booked enough international and domestic flights to re-qualify as WP. Have also purchased several gift vouchers and a Barcaldine-Longreach flexi fare (ie a voucher-to-be) to aid the journey to LTG. Looking at the flights and fare types I purchased, and adding in the fact that I've "locked in" to Qantas for several future flights via vouchers, it's clear Qantas has secured many more thousands of dollars from this sucker than they would otherwise have gotten. Glad to have done my bit to contribute to Alan Joyce's next bonus.

Based on my booking references, between Monday and last night, I estimate about 200 million new booking references where created.

Not sure about the schadenfreude about people booking last night. Some of us have to work to earn the money to pay for the bookings. :p

Not to mention corona virus developments overnight will probably need me to cancel some of the bookings made last night...

I apologise to everyone that my prediction of a few days ago came true. i.e. that the website would go into meltdown and they would have to get more kids back in to fix it.
The call centres, well that's another story isn't it, on a normal day they can't handle the load.

The PNRs are semi sequential however they’re generated across multiple airlines that use Amadeus.

Just cancelled and took the refund. The customer service agent I spoke to suggested that they are considering honouring the deal for those people who booked this morning. No talk about extending another 48hours.

@Malt if it is a Red- deal who will get slugged $99 extra when you go too re book.

I have a GV reference # but no PNR sadly... however confirmation page does show GV have valid from date of 25 Feb. So I guess one could argue it will also have an issue date (and hence individual PNR) of 25 Feb. Fingers crossed.
You don't need the PNR. You'll be fine with the reference number generated for the gift voucher.
