Global explorer out of fiji

These seem like amazing value at the moment. An AGLOB34 fare for $8161 plus taxes. Anyone know the logistics of organising this from a Fiji point of view?

even with tough A availability out of Nandi its very cheap if you come back to Sydney and head off that way. The Qantas premier desk agent could not believe the fare herself. What she could not do was tell me the nuts and bolts of organising the fare. The plan is to speak to the gurus on the AA RTW desk. They will know.

Be somewhat wary of the prices shown oneworld web site, while they are a good indicator sometime they seem to miss updates.

E/F gets current information from GDS's world wide and is basically accurate. That available on the oneworld web site either agrees with E/F or it is inaccurate.

The only discrepancies between E/F and reality normally relate to exchange rate fluctuations. Unfortunately, I can't pull fares up in FJD on E/F.

In any case, it's still a nice fare. I like the DGLOB34 fare at AUD6,692+++

Well you could get a cheap ret ticket SYD-NAN and off you go from there. Will post results of AA RTW desk enquiry when I get to call them. Sure seems like a potential winner to me. QF person was saying current return in F SYD-LAX can cost >$20000!

I've no idea how you're going to issue ex-NAN with AA when they don't seem to have a ticketing presence in Fiji.

I can't help but think that sometimes discoveries like this shouldn't be discussed in the public forum... loopholes (usually) inevitably get closed!

Loopholes form viable and often thought-out marketing propositions!

We on AFF are bound together, by a trait beyond an odd interest in aviation; we appreciate value for money... be that on a $10 TT fare or $10,000 AA DONE4.

As often as we find unintentional loopholes, we also find intentional ones.

BIG EXAMPLE: AAdvantage applied to some very specific "Qantas Loyalty Problems"!

P.S. I would expect that Qantas has workshopped "viaFiji" to an extent we wouldn't believe! (Certainly enough to have an airline based there!)

Even Dallas all-star didn't know there was an office in SYD and refused to entertain requests for a reissuing in SYD until I supplied the address myself - it then took 2 attempts to convince Dublin to come up with a PQR for SYD reissuing as they too couldn't believe there was an office in SYD. Given that there is no AA presence in Fiji, unless they also have an elusive office there not listed on the website ala SYD - good luck! I'd love to be proven wrong though.

It might be possible to issue through AA Canada. From the rulesheet:

When travel originates in a Country for which a specific local currency fare is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted into the currency of sale at the bank selling rate, the resultant fare must not be lower than that from the country of sale.
Exception: For travel originating in the United States and sold in Canada, the applicable USD fare converted to CAD at the bank selling rate shall apply.

We are going to do RWT dept NZ in Dec2008 and are currently looking at options of getting best tickets for family of 3 adults and 1 child. Itinerary is looking like NZ-US/Can-Europe-Asia-Aus-NZ.
This is a non business trip, so we cant spend 10k each on tickets.

Any advice on how Fiji tickets may work and general economy RWT with pitfalls we could avoid

Generally you dont see much difference on the economy fares from what you would buy the same fare for here in Australia (using AA to reduce fuel fines sure).
Mostly its only the premium cabins that there is much of a difference in price and this is also often because for example a country has cheap A (first) class fares but has very few if any first class services to choose from to use the fares with.

You are limited by reservations system; with these products it's the lowest common denominator.

In this case it's probably AA with whom cannot book more than 329 days in advance.

Buy a ticket to Nandi from BNE or SYD (or get an award flight there), buy your pre-arranged Global Explorer ticket from your nearest Fijian travel agent and start the trip.

For oneworld products they list the base prices on there web site.
for RTW go here oneworld - Round-the-World Fares and select your global explorer or onewolrd explorer and half way down the page is some drop downs for pricing options.

As an example...

oneworld Explorer - 4 continent
Business NZD 10,599

Global Explorer < 34,000 miles
Business NZD 10,599

NZD 10,600 = AUD 9,220
So its around $1400 AUD cheaper.
