Wondering on our next USA trip using AA domestic should be upgraded to F on two class flights, so what lounges can we use and what to expect in food/drinks in MIA, DFW, NYC and LAS?.

Don't know about the food \ drink you would get on the flights in F (in Y you'll get a can of coke, and you may be able to buy a sandwich \ cookie on the longer dom flights). You would be able to access the Admirals lounges due to your QF - SG (OWS). AFAIK, Dom F on AA does not give any lounge access by itself.

As QF SG your are oneworld Sapphire and can use available Admirals Clubs before your oneworld flights.

There is no A/C in LAS, but MIA, LGA, JFK, EWR and DFW have plenty.

Thanks guys. I guess as SG can take good woman with me into Admirals club lounges?.

Comparing AA F to QF J, on domestic services, my personal rule of thumb is -

On AA flights over 2 hours* in length, departing between 4:00 and 19:30 you should expect something better than you would receive on a comparable Qantas sector.

* some sectors have to be over 2.5hours, if outside of breakfast, lunch, dinner times.

On AA flights less than 2 hours in length or any flight departing between 19:30 and 4:00 you should expect very little indeed.

I stIll managed to get 3 Coronas in on a 1 hour flight from BOS-JFK

In First that would be a doddle!

Down the back not so hard either as the FA's get commission on sales.

As it was such short flight the FA's were quite chatty as not much to do (and only 4 in First).

They took our orders before take off, and let us continue drinking through landing in plastic cups!

Even went down back when she ran out of only 2 cans of Carona on First trolley!!:D

Traveling in the US at moment and have had a number of flights with American Airlines. As per my previous experiences with AA, I am not particularly impressed with the standard of service. There are certainly a small number of individuals who do try to provide a very good service, but they have been very much in the minority in my experience. There is no way I could ever imagine a Qantas cabin crew or ground crew member speaking to a passenger the way I have seen some AA crew speak. The quality of the Qantas clubs is far superior to the Admirals Lounges.

Qantas is not perfect, no doubt about that, but I have to say I am happy to be someone who flies Qantas a lot more than American.
I just flew my first AA segment last week. The AA service checking in at JFK was terrible. The staff grunted and tried to dismiss our baggage allowance on a LONE 4 fare. Fortunately AFF forum had persuaded me to take a copy of LONE 4 rules and this document saved the day! As I walked away from the desk my husband and I commented " how good is Qantas! ". Fortunately the staff inflight were not so bad.

Where to and when was that? I thought they only offer food for sale in Y. My most recent experience was ORD-LAX, I got my soft drink, but there was no food anywhere to be seen - for sale or gratis, on the 4 hr flight. Outside of meal times, it left at 4:30pm....
The sandwich and drink was on the LAX-DCA redeye back in Aug 2007. It was a 737 and as far as I am aware everyone in economy received some food and drink. I must have been seated in aisle seat somewhere in the middle of the cabin.

And received a cup of soft drink on any number of flights in Aug 2007 and Aug 2009.
