Jetstar Japan last week announced temporary cancellation of planned*Tokyo Narita – Shanghai Pu Dong*route, previously scheduled to commence on 23JAN17. The airline projects it is unable to secure permission to serve this route on time, as on-going restrictions of new routes/flights application at Shanghai remains in place, due to congestion issues.

Previously planned schedule as follow.

GK035 NRT2215 – 0110+1PVG 320 x246
GK036 PVG0215 – 0605NRT 320 x357

1am-2am is the quiet period at PVG so must be a blanket ban on approvals. Nice back of clock usage of aircraft that would probably sit at NRT overnight.

Would have been the 4th International route for GK after HKG, MNL and TPE.

GK also now listed at 20 A320s, making it larger than 3K Jetstar Asia (Singapore) at 18

i do think GK is probably the strongest Jetstar franchise going, cant decide if their growth is mainly down to cheap debt availablity to Mitsubishi or tapping into the sweetbspot between shinkansen and domestic flights.
