Gifting gold status - timing

Hello AFF Velocity experts

My husband has retained Platinum and is about to get enough points to gift gold in his 12 months rolling membership (June). Does he need to gift it as soon as it's earned or can he do it before the end of the next 12 months June 2020? Does he only get one in his lifetime or can he gift one each year?

I'm currently Gold with Etihad until May 2020 which gives me (currently if they don't keep devaluing Etihad's benefits!) reciprocal lounge and boarding priorities. So, there really isn't much point him giving it to me until early next year so that I get the following 12 months. Can he do this? Does it 'sit' in a benefits spot or something on his account?

Or if he can earn it again next year (which is likely with alternate weekly MEL - BNE MEL - PER) can he gift it to our daughter and then qualify for another next year (to gift me?)

Yes he can activate it any time in the next 12 months (from the date he gets the additional status credits).
He just needs to ring the Platinum line and they will activate immediately.

As long as he has 1500 status credits he will be able to gift you gold.
So it would depend if any status credits are due to expire during the rolling 12 month rolling membership and if he earns additional status credits to keep it above 1500. If he is not going to be earning more and is about to drop below 1500 then it would be better to get it then or just leave it until you need it if he is maintaining 1500.
The gifting is available each time he re-qualifies for platinum so it renews each year.
