So just reached QF Plat and now have 50kg baggage allowance for intl trips. Not sure I have ever carried more than 30 kg in the past 20 years of air travel. Wouldn’t it me good to gift some of my “excess” allowance for those that have a kilo or two over in their carry on?

Crazy idea...someone else's bag with unknown contents will be checked in under your name.
Sorry no, what I meant is that there is x amount of kilos allowed on the plane and when it is full some passengers may be over a kilo or so with carry on. If I have several kilos in my allotment, I would like to “gift” that extra kilo or two to them. The plane still has the same weight restriction, but I can help another passenger out. I do not check their bag or have anything to do with it other than freeing up some of my allocated weight.

I think you'll find the airlines won't allow it, simply because you are reducing their opportunity to charge someone else for excess luggage. Although in these days the allowances are pretty generous and most people are within the limits. If you want to spread the love of Plat, you can guest them into the lounge.

If you are QF WP. At a minimum you will be checking in using the business class lane with passengerswho already have good luggage allowance.

Where are you going to find these passengers before they check in?. Are you going to go up to random passengers asking them. Also how do you know they are on your flight/s because unless they are travelling with you even on separate ticket, you can't share luggage allowance.

Sounds nice but that is not possible unless the other people are travelling with you on your flight.

IMHO I wouldn't want to encourage some I've seen to lug even more carry-on baggage as it becomes unwieldy and slows others down, plus as mentioned it'd eat into airlines' business model.

If I'd been able to get a rebate for all the unused baggage allowance I've had over the years, I'd be able to buy my own Learjet...

There is no such ‘thing’ as you describe.

Baggage allowances are per person, so you can’t ‘gift’ to anyone, and there is no system to allow the ‘averaging’ of baggage allowances against the entire plane.

You can pool your allowance with someone travelling with you, in most cases. But not for random passengers.

The airlines work on the theory that frequent flyers rarely travel with their full allowance. In fact most rarely bother to check anything at all. It costs them nothing but is a great perk for you. Anything to facilitate being used would cost them, in fuel at least if not lost revenue opportunity.

I’m one of the few who has an 8 x32kg bag limit who is still sweating at checkin to make sure it’s ok 😂

I can't remember what the weight assumptions are for adult passengers. Maybe people who are underweight can have more luggage allowance and overweight passengers would have less luggage allowance?

🤔🤔🤔
Maybe someone can loan me their unused body weight?.

Yes though this FF and his family maxed out of 5J plus 1 WP luggage allowance of almost half a tonne checked luggage one time. I think the carry on would have been nearly 100kg as well.🤣. Ah the days when U fares were not rare as hens teeth

Me too! Although my limit is lower than yours, but still very generous. Still we always manage to use it all when travelling to visit Seat Son who lives overseas.

Did that early last month for a random passenger who was on the Qantas SYD T1>T3 transit bus with me. She'd just arrived off QF8 that had been delayed by some 12-13 hours (due to severe electrical storms at DFW) and had subsequently been bumped off her regional connection. She was tired and stressed and all she wanted was a chance to grab a drink, something to eat and have a shower. I had a brief opportunity to stop in at the Dom J Lounge so guested her in. I departed on my onward journey, feeling like I'd done my good deed for the day.
