With Star Alliance PER - BKK was great, Thai airlines flies direct and there was always business class availability with USAirways points. Now trying to get to BKK from Perth sucks. There just seems to be no availability for Business seats PER- SIN, KUL, CGK, even HKG. I ended up paying for economy with Thai and that is a real come down! Any ideas? I only know how to check for seats using the AAdvantage system on line or calling an operator(and paying the fee), but it feels like they are just using the AAadvantage system too.

Do you have US Airways miles you need to spend?

Have you considered Avianca or even United?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've been trying to get to Europe in Sept from Perth for the last couple of months using my USDM's but no reasonable itineraries have come up. I've basically given up and will try again with a longer lead out time. All of my other redemptions started with a leg to Bangkok

Try a phone call to USDM you never know what they may have.

Don't fly PER-BKK ia any route I am aware of given Thai direst is a 7 hour flight, I would like to keep any alternative under 12 hours or overnight stays.

Limewood what am I missing. Our points have been converted to AAdvantage miles, therefore we go through AAdvantage award bookings don't we? Are you saying there is a US Dividend Mile operator we can call who has access to flights or routes AAdvantage don't?

My bad, miss read, you need to call AA for new bookings, USAirways for awards already booked through them.

I mean Avianca the FF program and United Mileage Plus.

They are both in Star Alliance. Buy miles in their frequent flyer programs and then use these miles for redemptions on the TG direct flight PER-BKK. Buying miles is discussed in detail on AFF in the relevant forums.
