Getting OW Sapphire while abroad - baggage allowance

Hi all,

I may be in a position to get Qantas gold while abroad and could use an extra 15kg of baggage allowance for the return journey (with Malaysian airlines). Does anyone know if I will qualify for this as even though I will have the oneworld status I will not have the up to date Qantas card due to being abroad when upgraded?

As long as the QF system has had time to upgrade you, you should be fine. Might be worthwhile downloading the App if not already

Sounds good. Bigger concern might actually be Jetstar if I do the last leg with them, no extra baggage for QF I hear? 30kg business is very stingy on an international flight..
