This is such an important comment. This can prevent you dying in your sleep which is sometimes the precise opposite of patient's wishes in their later decades

Well I went to the ED and the good news is that after an ECG and chest xray I'm not having a heart attack. Sent home and told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen and check-in with the GP if no improvement.I've been getting my chest tightness again for the last few days, hoping it's not a return of the pericarditis from a few years ago. Contemplating running up to the hospital to get the tests done instead of waiting for my cardiologist.
I'll be honest, I'm not sure I can go through the stress, pain and uncertainty of this again. I sometimes wish we were infact in Johns simulation - I would really love a restart button about now.

Good luck with the recovery @andyeMedical Trip Report
Was in for my quad repair yesterday. I had been going into work on cruthches until the day before, including a couple of days hosting the junior doctors' training accreditors and examining for the College the whole of Sunday.
It's the hospital that mrsandye and I both work at so I guess I would be considered Chairman's Lounge status.
Had received pre-trip instructions directly from my anaesthetist by phone on the Sunday.
However, I had later received a schedule change by text to say I was on the morning rather than afternoon list. Made the mistake of not double-checking the new check-in time l, so received a call asking why I wasn't there and to hurry up in.
Although I was a bit stressed by the lateness, checkin was very smooth with just a few signatures on forms.
Went up to pre-op reception, where the equivalent of the Lounge Dragon wouldn't let me through until I'd provided one of those forms.
Mrsandye went to retrieve it and then qwas through pretty quickly. Changed into a classic hospital gown. Obviously no F&B but service from the nurses was excellent.
I have nothing but praise for them working under their current high stress environment.Good luck with the recovery @andye
From my experience too — hospital staff do great work under less than ideal circumstances. You get the odd ‘door bi—c-‘ but mercifully not very often.
yep . thats the menorrhagia partPolyps.

Love love love that awareness just before awareness is lost….Medical Trip Report continued....
Guested mrsandye into pre-op (though as one of the ED NUMS, she is Chairman's Lounge too) and she did a great job of keeping me distracted.

Get a visit from the Surgeon, explaining again the procedure. There is a short delay before take-off so I can have a preboarding sip
Then I'm wheeled into the prep room, greeted by a cheery anaesthetic nurse then the anaesthetist explains her plan for a nerve block around the knee for additional post-op pain control. Mask on, propofol in. Thankfully slept right through

That's one I haven't been on, yet. I like the B bushland views better than the C/D views toward city. All the evening lights are pretty but it is less relaxing imo.5B. One of yours?
The beauty of @andye 's hospital is largely unknown to all it is possible to order salad made to order directly from the kitchen. I usually have olives, onion, capsicum, shredded carrot, etc, etc in addition to the salad leaves. Then have them top it with steamed chicken breast or fish. Comes in a big pasta style bowl. I dropped 12kg last time in but when the nutritionist found out she roasted me for not having any carbs.Ahhh medical trip reports..great idea..are they eligible for the monthly gong ?
..aaand.. do we need a special gourmet food thread called what they fed me today?
Not sure whether still the same but when it opened the cafeteria on the ground floor was run by Emirates Group.it is possible to order salad made to order directly from the kitchen

Comes from the hospital kitchen @Quickstatus. Not sure who is running the cafeteria but the coffee has improved dramatically. When having day-oncology was able to order coffee straight from the cafe. Maybe it's the supplier which is now Campos. Previous was swill. Not sure whether still the same but when it opened the cafeteria on the ground floor was run by Emirates Group.
Still? Jeepers I thought he was years past retirement when I worked there 15 years ago. Will go and find out. Dr Carroll is the Head of Medicine at Redcliffe Hospital, would have thought that it would have been done.
