Don’t wear Polaroid sunglasses though!

My biggest bugbear, and its not that dramatic, but the iris scanner warning reacts to my transition lens in my glasses when the sun is at the wrong angle causing reflections.

Luckily its a quiet subtle warning sound not that intrusive over the media playing and only until I turn the corner and the sun is at a different angle.
 
My first car with a HUD, certainly makes a big difference on the freeway, along with the ICC

And all for less than 60k on the road
My Mazda has it. But a lot of the EVs only have it on upper models or in expensive packages. And this something I'd rather not go without, but not when it comes bundled in a $5k package.

22kW 3 phase require a 3phase 40amp circuit even though the current draw is no more than 32A per phase

2x Tesla wall Connector can be connected in a power sharing configuration. This means 2EVs can share one 22kW 3 phase circuit. When both are charging they each can get 11kW. And if only one is charging, it can use the full 22kW.

Most EVs can't do more than 11kW AC - even teslas.

This is better than paying for 2x 22kW circuits...

True - But I'd want to charge the car in 3 hours, with the 3 hours free plan that we've been on for quite a while so I'd want the 22kW charger. The Subaru can charger at 22kW AC which is great as allows charging from 10-80% in 2.5 hours.. I have currently limited the charge to 80% and will charge to 100% every month or two or before a long road trip.

So yes, 3 x 40AMP circuits, which is about a 20 metre run from the switchboard to where the garage is :( so that's an extra $600 for cabling right there.

Current oil price is about $104 per barrel

Wholesale petrol price for U91 in Melbourne is 218.8 at the moment, U98 is about $2.37, and with school holidays soon I expect U98 to come close to $3.00 per litre

Do you do that many Kms that you need to charge from 10-80% every day?

Thats a LOT of travel. I generally find that around 20% a day is plenty for my travel unless I am doing a road trip to the Gold Coast and back and then I only use around 40% of my battery.

Sure, that's assuming you are charging 75kWh in that 3 hours

However if you charge every day:
EV1: 500km/week at 17kWh/100km = 12kWh/day
EV2: 800/week at 17kWh/100km =20 kWh/day

Total energy 32kWh/day
Which is about 10kW/hr total for both cars charging using the 3hrs.

Using 3hrs x22kWh per day = 66kWh/day
This is approximately to 388km/day assuming energy efficiency is 17kWh/100km


ABC = always be charging
Unlike petrol cars when it is usual to wait until fuel tank is near empty before filling up,
Don't wait for charge level to go to empty before charging
