Swmbo was chatting to a local senior citizen yesterday who assured her that the virus was caused by the 5g network.
Is it even available in the area?

I doubt the local senior citizen could use 5G!

I’ll be interested to see what the AntiVaxxers do in 12 months when there is a vaccine for CV19.

Apparently burning down 5G towers is common in the UK.

Our other new national sport is apparently burning down 5G towers – inspired by what even fact fans must admit is a world-class conspiracy theory, which elegantly blends our fear of disease with our fear of China and our fear of new technology nobody really understands to begin with.

Mobile phone mast fires are being investigated amid conspiracy theories claiming a link between 5G and coronavirus.

There have been fires at masts in Birmingham, Liverpool and Melling in Merseyside.

It looks like I could probably make these whilst working out what to create next :

Edit : let me know if you don’t know what they actually are.

Yes, they do look like ugly ciggy butts with ash but they are pretzels dipped in white chocco with salt and poppy seeds as the ash. But, you have to get the red stuff to emulate some being alight - suggestions... Serving these up, I suspect adults will not much like the association of cancer sticks and not eat them.

The wonderful  land of Belarus, where coronavirus is paranoia, and football goes on, although thinning crowds at the games suggest reduced confidence in vodka as an antidote.

Forbes - In Belarus, President Lukashenko Has Unique Response To Facing Coronavirus

And then there’s Turkmenistan, where talking about coronavirus is apparently banned.
It claims to have no cases, and has removed social distancing posters.

cheers skip
It appears that in Belarus at least, some people are taking precautions. The countries taking radically different approaches will provide some interesting data for future researchers. Perhaps it will emerge that working outside on your tractor, fortified by regular nips of vodka, is efficacious.

I'd do a quick dip in some red jelly crystals for the lit versions ;)

EDIT - I just remembered what standard jelly crystals are made of, maybe sugar and red food dye would be a nicer option !

EU looking to force travel 'bans' for at least another month.

Today the Commission invited Schengen Member States and Schengen Associated States to prolong the temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU until 15 May.
The experience of Member States and other countries exposed to the pandemic shows the measures applied to fight the spread of the virus require more than 30 days to be effective.
The Commission calls for a coordinated approach to the prolongation, as action at the external borders can only be effective if implemented by all EU and Schengen States at all borders, with the same end date and in a uniform manner.

The travel restriction, as well as the invitation to extend it, applies to the ‘EU+ area', which includes all Schengen Member States (including Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, and Romania) and
the 4 Schengen Associated States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland) – 30 countries in total.

From what we're reading, the EU is just about rooted!

Just as well we left, eh! Wonder what will happen re: end of transition period, currently 31/12/2020. Seems that taking the hit if trade deals are not in place, may actually be a better solution....... most resources in central Gov have been diverted from trade talks to COVID-19 response.
