General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

SevenZeroEight Gin Distillery in WA has switched to producing Hand Sanitiser for a couple of WA Hospitals. Sounds like a few others around the country may follow suit.

Yes a number of Gin Distilleries are doing this.

All credit to companies and individuals who are doing their bit at present. The more everyone does, the better off we all will be.

Another sad story....

This worries me greatly as that is the drug I've been on for over 3 years. Its a boring old drug but is now at risk of being unavailable to me and I do not want to go there.

And the Minister of Health announced they were also doing trials of it for prophylaxis! Might need to go check with the pharmacist they will reserve me another script for it.

Just heard in Spain, people going into nursing homes and finding the elderly abandoned in their beds and some of them were dead. 😰. If this is a portent of what’s to come when the infection and death rate goes up, we will have a panic on our hands more serious than just toilet paper and pasta. I hope this time those that should be aware of this potentially happening are actually prepared.

(There is a thread on wearing face masks).

It’s all fine people - Trump looks like opening the USA for business in a few weeks as the economy is more important.

Sen Ron Johnson (Wisconsin) said you don’t shut down a Highway just because a few people die and the Governor of Texas said no one asked him if he minded dying and lots of grandparents would be happy to die so their grandchildren don’t have the economy destroyed for them.

I don’t know why we didn’t think of this before - few deaths here or there don’t matter - why are we shutting down?

There is no way to prepare for such horror.
Each individual will deal with it differently and some will not cope at all.

Governments cannot tell it as it is…. there would be pandemonium.
This is an excellent time to consider one's faith and in the absence of faith , find some rock, any rock.. to cling to ..

Having said all that bleak stuff… we can still soften the wave.. lets hope/pray that we succeed

I dont like the favouritism thing but I did read an interesting book where the DIL was seemingly despised by the old dragon MIL. When she died she had left a letter to DIL saying how much she admired her strength and resilience and care. We shouldn't leave saying such things too late.
I really like my mum in law so no issues, she's a good person and I still miss dad in-law. Youngest is her fav, produced the only grandchild but if she wants something done or has an issue, we're the ones she comes to.

She lives with middle son lives with her and she came to us about a broken light bulb last week.

Two years before his death I spent 2 days looking after my father-living with him.My mother was in hospital and my 4 siblings all away.We spent virtually the whole time talking. We hadn't been close but those 2 days changed everything.Forgiveness is very powerful.
The lyrics of that song was the basis of the eulogy I gave at his funeral.
Wonderful advice.
