General Coronavirus chit chat thread - non-travel specific

Update.

Spoke to AAMI, as suspected tenant protection for unpaid rent only kicks in once you have taken all steps to get the unpaid rent or get eviction order. No chance that's going to happen in these trouble times. BTW, we would never evict a tenant under today's circumstances, and I suspect the states will rightly takes steps to ensure this is the case.

Also very similar to travel insurance, once the authorities set or change the rules - no cover.
Rent is supposed to be one of the big issues being discussed today so I suspect there will be measures/assistance put in place this afternoon.

Well as usual I watched it on Sky News through the WIN regional network. There coverage of these events is the same as the ABC as it was for the bushfires.

He seems to have been briefed that constantly criticising people for behaving badly (bulk buying), only makes them worse.
Now, he started with some positive reinforcement and thanks for the good behaviour thing. People are more likely to relate well to that.

Watched some of it, he looks a lot less frazzled than last week which is great body language, telling us as much as the words….

So major point was that from 11.59pm tomorrow all arrivals from overseas will go into mandatory 14 day quarantine in the city of arrival.mentioned hotels and the ADF will provide help to enforce this.
Also said States are to go harder on enforcing the self isolation declarations people have signed.

I thought arrivals would be quite low but yesterday there were over 7000 arrivals at Australian airports from overseas.

Wow. That's really high. I'm surprised too. Good move.

There was a fascinating report of someone forcibly quarantined in a 'business hotel' in China (basically an Ibis level hotel, but with carpet). They detailed the routine... three meals a day delivered to your door, multiple daily temperature checking, and daily fumigation of hallways. They also had to prepare a bucket of water with special tablets to pour down the toilet after flushing, to kill any of the shedding virus.

They had ultra fast wifi, windows that opened for fresh air, and tv. They seemed to think it was 'ok'.

So I wonder what happens with arrivals into Syd - who gets which hotel? Imagine coming off Qantas first class and getting the ibis for two weeks, while the passenger in economy gets the grand Hyatt :D

Question, re: Stay at home.

Hubby wants to do diving. He literally will go from home to car to dive site, get geared up, go into ocean, get out of ocean, back to car, take off gear, get in car and drive home.

His buddy will be many meters away at all times. They dont even park next to each other.

Still OK?

Good for the hotels, the staff and cleaners etc. Presumably the govts will get a decent price from the hotels.

That surprised me too. I also liked his lack of sympathy for people stuck overseas who traveled after the do not travel advisory....

Too hard for me :). Doesn’t seem all that different to us taking the dogs for a walk in the reserve.
