We're off to Bali in the morning. DH & I are flying from Sydney on GA715 at 10.00am. My daughter is flying from Melbourne at 9.50 on GA719. We weren't allowed to check in until 12 hours before departure. I didn't have a problem checking in except I couldn't print my BP. My daughter went to check in and can't - her status says "on standby". We booked these flights back in May and I received a e-ticket for her at 13.44 saying her flight was confirmed. Any ideas? I've told her to get to the airport as early as possible.

If you have any concerns, I would call GA and ask them to review the booking and make sure everything is in order. Best for peace of mind :)
 
Good advice for every booking IMHO.

Really? Never call to check ticket and after hundreds of international flights and only two issues both on Star alliance circle fares mid ticket (ie after flown one or more sectors already). Agreed though good to call when getting such a message during OLCI. Sounds like flight was way oversold.
 
I haven't seen it before in OLCI, but if GA use Amadeus Altea (same as QF/BA, others etc), when the flight is full during check in it can throw pax to "standby", even if they are firm. Usually needs a supervisor to intervene and regrade someone or release a blocked seat.

If at the hotel will ask the concierge or butler to do it. If not check on the app or website. Call has a broad application.
 
Hi All - finally back online after a few days. As this was at 10pm at night, no luck getting through to Garuda. However DD went straight up to the Customer Service Desk, explained what had happened and the CSO looked at his screen and said she had a seat & it was on the window. Must say the Garuda inflight service was very good on both ours and her flights. Exceptionally slow baggage delivery in the new Denpasar Airport. Appears to be no staff but have just found out it is a major hindu (Galungan) holiday and celebration so most are on holiday.

I remember the days when every ticket just about required a phone call the day before to confirm it.

But, these days they just downgrade or leave you behind it would seem. :shock:
