Garuda Frequent Flyer Points

Just found out that if you upgrade to a higher class using points on Garuda that you get absolutely no frequent flyer points for the original booking class. For example, if you upgrade a Y fare to a business class seat (Class O) you get no frequent flyer points for the flight.

Has anyone else ever seen this on any other airline?

Yes, but not as a matter of policy though, mainly due to IT systems that cannot manage it, and requires a manual intervention after request for credit based on original booking class.
 
OK - it seems the Garuda support centre employee who advised me that if you upgrade to a higher class using points on Garuda that you get absolutely no frequent flyer points for the original booking class was WRONG! I flew today and spoke to a ground Garuda check-in person who was substantially more knowledgeable than the support centre person I spoke to. She directed me to the Garuda FAQ section which states "If you use an Upgrade Award, you will earn miles according to the economy class ticket that you buy." This is as it should be.
