With the PR changes, at present some of the MNL - SYD - MNL flights are the new A321neos (168 seats) so replacing these with the new A350 is an increase in capacity. However until a few weeks ago, all seven weekly flights each way were the refurbished A333s (309 seats).

However one way or the other one will be travelling on a more modern aircraft than QF offers on SYD - MNL, and to my mind with better service as well.

Routes online has also mentioned that from 1 December 2018 to 31 January 2019, five of what will be the daily MNL - MEL - MNL flights each week will be served by a new A350 not the A333 as at present. The frequency rise to daily (at present 5x week) is from the end of October 2018, with PR208 four days a week connecting through to LHR and PR209 three days a week connecting ex London.

PR tends to have quite cheap fares, including to LHR so given GA is ceasing, it may be a good similar option.
