Driving from ABX to MEL to catch 1815 to SYD today Friday afternoon

Is it better to follow the freeway all the way in then merge onto M80 then freeway to MEL

Or turn off further north at Donnybrook road and go the back roads?.

Anticipate arrival at around 1700

So wanted to get an idea of the 1630-1700 traffic on Friday afternoon

Whilst I am not too sure of the back roads and how they eould get you to MEL, traffic to MEL on a Friday afternoon is generally pretty terrible. The last km or two can get quite slow as most of that traffic is MEL bound.

In the end went down Hume M31 then turned off at Donnybrook Road C723 to Mickleham then the back way .

Easy, hardly any traffic.

Google map had the Tullamarine in red.
While the back way was blue all the way

Interestingly the built in car Satnav (not the apple carplay) said go via mickleham
