Frequency of Visits to US

Mrs wtolmie and daughters are both dual AUS and US citizens and are currently residing in US while im here working in China (Im just AUS).

I have been travelling back n forth every 6-8 weeks to US on Visa Waiver for some time and just curious as to whether there is a limit to how many visits one can make.

Sometimes on my visits i get asked a few extra questions about my work and travel patterns as im usually flying there direct from Thailand or Sth Africa..

would it make any difference if I actually went and got a visa in my passport ?
