If he's going to land $12M over the next 5-6 years I'd suspect he's very happy!

Probably, point being he was not happy yesterday during the interview, clearly aware it was likely his last grand final.

Clearly aware it was his last season of top 4 quality play and last game in front of a decent crowd.

There should be deals for Melburnians to leave Melbourne this week.

nostalgia hat on here... I think it was for the 1988 or 9 grand final when I first remember qantas offering cheap fares for melbournians to leave over the weekend... IIRC they advertised a special via 3AW... fly to Perth tomorrow (which must have been the friday) for $109 one way. and return the Sunday for the same price.

back then the cheapest fares were in the region of $470... and that was for one of those FlexiA or flexiB fares (or whatever they were called)... Perth was flexiB which meant you had to book for a certain day, but you rang the airline the day before and they would confirm your exact flights for either the day you had chosen, or the day after. (mind you, in 1986 flight deck had a promotion of lifetime membership for $450... a substantial sum at the time)

so $109 was a bargain. I used the special flight deck reservations number to book a return ticket for my father... $218. he was on the 840am to Perth I think... got to a crowded check-in area, packed flight, and he was upgraded to first class. I remember my mother saying (once the boarding pass was firmly in his hand) 'if he had wanted to go first class he would have paid first class'.

back then the humour wasn't lost on the check in staff. today I suspect there'd be a 'beep' at the gate and you'd find yourself in a middle economy seat somewhere in row 45.

We hope to be back for the next Grand Final between the Fremantle Dockers and........

Tick the GFL box on your Dockers membership and you can get a seat for $340.

It is so tempting to save a thousand dollars a grand final ticket. We do have further eligibility with West Coast, Port and Crows through the office.

Don't know if anybody posted this.

There are reports out of Perth that some Dockers fans are selling grand final tickets because they cannot secure affordable flights to Melbourne.

Others are taking the "planes, trains and automobiles" approach, with stories of chartered planes or flying to Melbourne via stops as far afield as Bali and Singapore

Virgin boss defends AFL Grand Final flights for Dockers fans

Buddy to the Swans? Who would have picked that? I guess if the choice was Rooty Hill vs Bondi...I know which I would choose:mrgreen:.
The Swans must be a hot favourite to make next year's GF!

Virgin chief executive John Borghetti says they've put on six extra flights and they've provided 5500 more seats in an effort to meet demand.

That equates to 917 seats per flight. Would love to know what they are flying!!

Extra flights and upgrading equipment equals more seats.
