I'd like to think this might put some pressure on QF's J prices, but I think we all know that won't happen...

Freedom Air Launches Suite Seats

They're bigger, softer, provide more leg room and best of all - Freedom Air's new Suite Seats are now available on all our A320’s! The new Suite Seats feature leather upholstered, 40” pitch seats located in the first two rows of each A320.

In keeping with Freedom's uncomplicated fare structure, the cost of the added leg room and comfort during trans-Tasman or Pacific travel is $100 per person, per sector, on top of the original fare price. Each Airbus will have 8 Suite Seats available. A further 142 seats with the usual 30" pitch will still be available on all flights.

Freedom Air Sales and Marketing Manager Rachel Gardiner says the bigger seating option is all about providing more space and comfort for those passengers who like really, really small fares but would prefer a bit more room in-flight.

"Perhaps it's a little more space to work off their laptop, stretch their legs or just relax and get a bit of shut-eye - our passengers can now benefit from the same space and comfort enjoyed by passengers in business class!"

A second seating option has also been introduced for those passengers who may not want extra room but may have a preference about where they sit in the aircraft. For an additional $5 per sector, passengers can book under Seat Select and choose their specific aisle and seat for their journey.

Seat Select can be used to select any of the 142 economy sized seats, excluding seats in the Emergency Exit aisles.

Passengers up-sizing or selecting their seats will receive the standard Freedom in-flight offering of buy-on-board entertainment, food and refreshments and their baggage allowances will be the same as other passengers.

Gardiner says Suite Seats and Seat Select are just some of the product enhancements Freedom is rolling out over the next few months.

"We have begun to offer a new onboard DVD hire service and we're going to be reviewing our food and beverage options too."

Gardiner says that Freedom is committed to maintaining its low fares by providing customers with the flexibility to make decisions on their seating and in-flight options.

"We will continue to provide really, really small fares for our customers so we'll leave it up to them to decide which extras they want to pay for."

That's been available for a while. Odd that its only now being promoted.

Note the only thing the extra $100 each way gets you is the better seat. Everything else is the same. Still its a great deal combined with cheap econ fare. Effectively economy plus for about the same as a mid to high econ fare.

this will be a good little earner for Freedom Air I think. i could not see it making a real difference to QF though, surely Freedom would not have the volume to make the difference.

More to the point, SJ doesnt fly the same routes as QF with an exception or two.
