Matt, this is very generous; I will throw my hat in the ring.

With VA the only airline giving QF any competition into Alice Springs I try to support them whenever possible. It’s fair to say VA WP would make the ASP-ADL-MEL-LST commute somewhat more enjoyable - and allow Master & Ms FD to experience The Lounge.

Here’s my favourite destination, seen from c. 23000 feet.
It’s warm there this time of year, as AFF Warks will attest, but always spectacular:

My entry is based on a before and after combination:



BEFORE: Currently this is me on the early morning BNE-SYD flight trying get the maximum benefit from my in-flight breakfast serving. Daylight savings makes it so hard.




AFTER Winning. This is me lounging around the VA lounge with all my new friends, doing deals, eating the finest and about to head off for my seat upfront.

My favorite travel destination up to date has to be none other than... JAPAN!
From the culture to the food; the neon lights of Tokyo to the calming shrines of Kyoto, I feel that Japan has something for everybody and can satisfy even the most picky traveler.

Me and the Mrs will be hoping to start a family next year so we will make full use of what we can with our travel plans this year.

Having VA WP will be useful for us who plan to fly Etihad, and could take advantage of access to the First Class lounge in Abu Dhabi. And of course the lounge access and other perks when flying domestically.

As I’m likely to have a more than usual number of flights with VA & partners over the next 12 months I would like to humbly put my hat in the ring too.

My favourite destination? Well after a couple of trip reports expressing my passion for this place it has to be Yosemite National Park! Forget Disneyland, Yosemite is the real happiest place on earth. Such a wonderful location and has filled me with memories that will last a lifetime!

What a wonderful gift this would be. Sadly I am not a good photographer, but even on a wet, miserable day last October, Paris is still a magical place - well apart from bloody French train drivers who went on strike to thwart my visit to Monet's Garden! I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed.

This year my plan was to move away from 100% QF/OW travel and try to build status with VA & affiliates. This would be a fantastic fast forward for me and would be greatly appreciated, especially for someone with no status on VA at all.

But to be more serious, this was taken this year in Positano, Italy, which was a dream trip of ours and something I'll always remember (this part of Italy is where my dads side of the family originated from).

PS even though I'm not in the running, here is my favourite travel pic. It's not much of a picture but it was Christmas day 2012 in "Europe's oldest restaurant." We were in Salzburg. The walls were black from 1,200 years' of candle smoke coating the bricks. Amazing food, amazing experience.

My conditions should be treated guidelines, they are not hard and fast. I only ask for a photo as sometimes the odd one pops up and I think that looks like a nice to visit.

Who wants to be a WP with VA. Over the past couple of years I have given away VA SG companion status but not WP so this is a first. I have no one to give it to, MrsM has the QF complementary WP and does not need or want this one.

I have called the VA CC and they confirmed I am good to go. Like most of my "free stuff" posts there are a couple of conditions, being:

• AFF member for at least 3 months,
• At least 25 posts,
• a picture of your favourite travel destination (picture must be yours, i.e not pinched/ borrowed from the web)

I would prefer to give this to someone who will get some use out of it, if selected, you will need to provide me with your name and VA FF number, I need to give your details to VA. If you are not comfortable providing this detail don’t throw your hat in the ring.

I will leave the thread open for a while and when I think there is enough responses or pictures a decision will be made. As per other 'free stuff' posts I will ask MissM and MissM to agree on which response they like the best and that will be the winner. Simple.

Edit: I have been informed by VA that companion platinum is just like normal platinum that being if you do not maintain you will fall back to gold so you will get a couple of years as either WP or SG.

Have been following this forum for some time, but not sure how even to post? You seem to be familiar with this, are their any hints?
This is my year, hit the big 60, and it's time to look after me! Have my 'to do'list and about to embark on many adventures this year, starting with the Australian Open in 2 weeks, then Hobart, Vanuatu, Northern lights and the pyramids. What a year!

Amazing offer Matt.

Will throw my hat into the ring. Im lowly red on VA due to previously being gold on Qantas but moving employer and not needing to travel as much, and Virgin being the preferred carrier at work.

Started a new role on the 6th of Jan though so will be flying a little bit more in the future.

My favourite destination would have to be the Philippines. Have not been there for a while however have been there around 10 times in total. Partly due to visiting extended family but some times visit purely for the beauty of the country / remote islands.

The below pics are from my last trip to Boracay. Need to go back now that the shutdown and re-opening has happened to see what its like.

My photos are taken in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado (Vail on this occasion). I love going back to the USA to visit. Having grown up there, it holds a special place in my heart (if only I could ignore the politics). I love the diversity of landscapes, where in the course a day (be it a long day) you can drive from the beach, through the desert, and into the Rocky Mountains. Another few hours east, you'd see miles of nothing but flat farm land.

I'd get a lot of use this year from having status.

Hi Matt,

Amazing offer - incredibly generous and a great opportunity for someone. I would love it as each year I trek back to Europe (Switzerland) to see my family and my fast growing nieces and nephew. The ability to choose better seats or have a greater chance of an upgrade would make this a more comfortable experience. I also travel with work (NFP) and lounge access and a better seat selection would be outstanding.

My most recent favourite trip was across Lake Brienz to Interlaken and then up Jungfraujoch in Switzerland.
