lol, actually i wasnt, i was being serious, seems like the risk outways the potential benefit. Do you think they would really go through and check out all the details match, especially if its just booked online and you just put your number in?
But yeah after reading my post i can see how it came across like that

Re using your uncle's points. If you wanted to safely obtain his points why not join him up and then transfer the points into your name afterwards. All it would cost you is one off joining fee so it may be worth while.

My husband and I combined all our family points together recently and afforded two return business class tickets SYD - LA and realistically it only cost us the joing fee for six family members and keeping an eye on points accumulated over the pas couple of years.

We worked out how many points we each needed and then swapped and shuffled points between everyone and then transferred to ourselves so that we met all the regulations permitting maximum number of transfers permitted in a year.

Worth looking at if you don't want to see the points being wasted!!!

Cheers Julie

I don't know how much effort Qantas puts into investigating FF fraud (my guess is not a real lot) but speaking as a computer person I'd say that this sort of shenanigan would show up on an exception report somewhere, because although the names might be the same, there are so many other important data items, such as address, passport number, DOB and phone number that are different.

The computer would spit out a report, some junior clerk would be given the task of investigating the anomaly and they would certainly spot the attempt to circumvent the rules. I wouldn't want to put my record and points at jeopardy.

is another betting agency thats free to deposit by credit card and withdrawls funds...

but i have another idea to get free points..

sign up to a mobile phone plan(one where your not locked in a contract)
when your bill arrives.. use your credit card to pay more than the due amount (eg. if your bill is $100, use your card to pay $1000)
then your account will be in credit... then you cancel your mobile plan...
so the phone company will refund you the extra money you paid by cheque = your keep the free points!

Is it really worth the effort :?: I don't think so :!:

not really.. but its an idea.
it happened to me when i cancelled a plan and still getting charged by direct debit. and later they refunded me the money by cheque and i still kept my points..

i think it also works when you buy something from stores like kmart or target . pay with your card..
and refund the item without your receipt.. then they will give you a store voucher as refund..

If you are only getting a few points at a time, you gotta wonder about how efficiently you are spending your time. Target isn't likely to give out a refund for something several hundred dollars worth without a receipt or a bloody good reason.

Another point to consider is whether you are paying interest or fees on outstanding credit.

I aim to pay most of my routine expenses on my credit cards and then pay them off each month. If I get behind (as I did over Christmas - car aircon blew up, old fridge died, hotwater system sprang a leak, a few other things) then I transfer balances to a low-interest no-ponts card until I can catch up. Aussie is offering 3.99% on transfers at the moment, and that's a heap better than a major bank Visa.

But I also keep an eye on whether I'm paying extra charges. Aldi, where I get a lot of my groceries, whacks on a 1% surcharge for credit, so I pay by debit card there.
