And all it cost me was a lap full of tepid coffee.

QF down to Melbourne ex cbr this morning and wore some coffee during cabin cleanup. Absolute accident so no hard feelings toward the mortified cabin attendant but nice to get a full size bottle of red for the inconvenience.

Glad I wore my dark trousers...

Didn't offer and I didn't think to ask.

To be honest they were making such a fuss over cleaning it up I was getting to the point of asking them to back away slowly and just leave me a napkin... CSM popped the bottle into the overhead next to my bag quite discreetly.

I once got a bottle because I pointed out a chip in a coffee cup. The fa and csm were mortified (it even was leaking through the crack). I didn't want anything. But the csm and fa wouldn't leave me alone until I accepted something (other option was a voucher for the terminal)

They are good like that. I agreed to move from an exit row wing to the very last row aisle seat to accomodate a family. Didn't bother me as I was travelling by myself from BNE to MEL for work.

The CSM asked if he could do anything to say thanks and I said it was fine then offered me a glass of wine from business but I said I had some work meetings in the afternoon so I better not.

Later in the flight he asked me Red or White. He came back 5 minutes later with a bottle of Red wrapped up in a Qantas tea towel and handed it to me as thanks.

I guess there could be worse areas to get a bit of sustained attention...

And def amongst the worse if it had been piping hot!!

Ah, I don't know. What some people would do for free alcohol....

I recall some years ago on QF I scored a free bottle of Champagne when an FA spilled some tea on me!

QF stopped serving piping hot tea/coffee a loooooong time ago. In fact I would even go so far as to say they stopped serving coffee....

my wife reminded me that I first came to her attention when I spilled a cup of tea over her desk at work one day

Flight from Sydney to Melb last night, CSM slipped Qantas bottle of red in overhead locker for Ex-Premier Brumby.
No tea spilt but flight delayed or maybe it was just extra niceness for John.........?

Interesting. On an ADL - SYD flight, I had an FA drop a hot dinner on my lap, thankfully still in its foil covering. Received a smallish curry stain on my white business shirt but nothing major. Of the two FAs manning the cart, the one who dropped is was apologetic and gave me a napkin. The other ignored me and said to the first FA, 'don't worry about him, he's fine'... Was more miffed about that than the curry stain!

Certainly no free wine..

I got a bottle for spotting a slug in my salad. CSM gave it to me on deplaning. Bloke behind me wanted to know how I got it.

Perhaps the CSM was feeling sorry for John for never having been elected Premier.

I've received a bottle of wine from the CSM quite a few times, and not as a service recovery.

Would certainly never post any identifying factors that could see it traced back to them :)

I've received a couple of bottles from different VA J CSM's, just for being nice and chatting to them.

Had a free bottle of bubbles the other week because the IFE sound wasn't working. Was handed over in a spew bag...

Come to think of it I was given a bottle of champagne by a lovely CSM on a CHC-SYD flight a few years ago. We talked for ages down the back in a pretty much empty cabin.

Saw her again some time later on a flight SYD-SIN and she was working in upper deck business class on a flight I was upgraded to upper deck business class. Had a great flight with her and her female colleague.

Do you think there is a connection? Darn....

Exact same thing happened to me, but the chip in the glass cut my lip. Result = two bottles of wine, lol
