This one is probably a little more respected list than many that some specifically from the airline/travel industry. Fortune Magazine publish their lists of Most Admired companies across many industries.

Of course the result will also be reflective of the US-focus and distribution of the magazine's primary readership demographic.

I can't pinpoint the methodology they used to determine the list.

Apart from that and guessing that the demographic is biased strongly to American, I guess the list is plausible. Not that I quite understand what constitutes 'admiration' (not just airlines, any kind of company).

Apparently they based their lists on an in-depth evaluation of approximately 1400 companies worldwide (note the large number of categories reported).

According to FORTUNE, this recognition is “the definitive report card on corporate reputation,” as decided by thousands of executives, directors and financial analysts, rating companies on nine corporate attributes, from innovation to financial soundness.

The lists are in the March 21st print edition of FORTUNE.

My admiration for Delta and Southwest will be demonstrated on the ground looking up to them.

What centric LOTFAB rubbish is all this then eh?

Do they even turn a profit in the last three years?

I admire Southwest like I admire a Prius. Great and well done for building it just don't expect me to buy it.

Southwest could be admired as a company because of the way it manages its staff and a whole range of things (such as being one of the first LCC's). It was a pretty mould breaking place.

Delta is number 1 and AF/KLM is 5. Maybe they only interviewed people at ATL?

Interesting also that US is higher than AA.

Quite so.

Isn't Southwest on one of those shows and people get upset because their pet crocs aren't allowed to fly with them?

Brave strategy in my books. But there is a curiosity in people..................why not just take a peek and fly them once!!!
