As others mentioned, sea views are few in Port Douglas due to the rainforest which borders the beach the entire length of Four Mile Beach.
What time of year? If Wet Season/Summer you may want to be close to Macrossan street or definitely have a car to avoid walking in the humidity if you’re not a fan of being sweaty all the time. (Ah, realised you already said June 2024, so shouldn’t be an issue at all…)
That Coconut Grove is prime position along Macrossan street… close to the main Street. (Think Hastings St in Noosa). If you can find anything above Macrossan street eg Murphy Street or Island Point road, these will be elevated as they climb the point hill that makes up Port Douglas (dare I say knob). Coconut Grove starts to climb said hill, so some of its penthouse apartments may have better chance of view, though you’re back from the beach a bit.
Palm Cove has a buzz and vibe with lots of restaurants along the Esplanade and all easy walking (we holiday there overselves each year, and drop home if we happen to have forgotten to pack something…).
Trinity Beach is a bit quieter, fewer restaurants, but that Vue apartments is well positioned. I’d say more locals live in Trinity Beach cf. Palm Cove.
In town, Tamarind and C’est Bon are highly rated restaurants for locals and tourists alike, but I don’t know how they rate on the International Fanciness scale. As a local, I would consider them fancy.
