On Friday 3 March 2017, FP211, the 0945 hours from SYD to NTL is expected to instead depart at about 1040.

Some will disagree but this is the classic short, small capacity flight that could and should be replaced by passengers who want to use public transport instead travelling by train between Sydney Airport and Newcastle or environs. Small operators like this take up a valuable slot at SYD at a time when many international flights carrying 250 to 500 passengers an aircraft are departing, not to mention mainline and LCC domestic flights.

The Monday 1 May 2017 FP241, the 0710 hours SYD - DGE (Mudgee) appears to have undertaken numerous 'racetrack' circuits close to its destination: is there fog? The weather forecast says 'partly cloudy: areas of fog.'

BaE Jetstream 32 VH-OTD is teh aircraft, which took off from SYD at 0726 hours and was due in DGE at 0800. It's now 0848 and it appears to still be in a holding pattern southeast of Ulan, NSW.

On a rainy Friday 9 June evening that has led to extensive holding patterns and hence delays, FP215 (2000 hours SYD - NTL) took off at 2124 with arrival expected at 2201 hours, 81 minutes late. BAe Jetstream 32 VH-OTD is the aircraft.

On Thursday 22 June, Canberra may be foggy as PE131 from NTL to CBR, the 0655 hours departure, is in a holding pattern slightly to the southeast of Goulburn NSW as at 0810. VH-OTE is teh BaE JetStream 32.

QF804 from MEL looks to have had a missed approach at CBR at about 0754 while QF1461 and VA628 are also delayed en route in holding patterns, although QF804 landed at 0813.

UPDATE: PE131 landed at 0847, so is about 55 minutes late.

With the huge storms in SYD on the afternoon of Thursday 20 December 2018, FP724, the 1540 hours TRO down to SYD took off at 1633 and after a series of holding patterns is arriving at 1828 hours, 108 late with Jetstream 32 VH-OTQ.

Thursday 4 April 2019 sees FP421, the 0825 hours morning DGE - SYD airborne at 0903 so expected arrival is at 0954, 39 late. VH-OTE is the plane.

FP241, the early morning 0710 hours SYD up to DGE on Monday 9 March 2020 is expected to depart three hours late. This also means FP272, the 0945 hours SYD to lower north coast's TRO should be three hours late in departing.

While I've forgotten to check every day, since coronavirus commenced FP has cancelled many of its flights.

Was it included in the Federal Government's extra funding provided for Regional Express and others?

On Friday 1 May 2020, all of FP's scheduled seven flights have been cancelled ex SYD.

Since 1 May, more FP flights scheduled to or from SYD have been showing on the Sydney Airport site as 'cancelled', indicating that this was recent.

However on Thursday 28 May 2020, late running was more the problem with FP242, the 0900 hours SYD - DGE was airborne about 75 minutes late at 1030 hours.

FP122, the 1030 hours SYD - NTL short flight (rather unnecessary when one has the F3 freeway and the scenic line Newcastle Interchange - Sydney's frequent trains) was cancelled during coronavirus on Friday 5 June 2020.

Still during the lengthy coronavirus pandemic, on Thursday 11 June 20920, FP242, the scheduled morning flight from SYD to DGE was cancelled.

FP is regularly cancelling flights. I have not recorded all these on previous recent days. It's hit and miss as to whether particular flights operate as there isn't a discernible cancellations pattern.

Also during coronavirus, on Sunday 5 July 2020, FP123, an 1145 hours arrival in SYD ex NTL - a route that passengers can easily drive between or use Sydney Trains - is cancelled.

Later, FP524, the 1715 hours arrival in SYD ex BNK has also got the flick. This is a route that QFd has recently commenced flying.

Still during the pandemic, on Tuesday 21July 2020, FP213, the 1045 hours SYD up to TRO, along with FP998 at 1300 hours to DBO and FP246 at 1700 hours to DGE are cancelled.

The only remaining flight for FlyPelican today is FP282 at 1100 hours late morning to the mining centre of CAZ (Cobar).

It has been common for FP to cancel many flights close to departure date during coronavirus. If they'd been cancelled more than a week ago, usually they wouldn't appear on the Sydney Airport departures board.

FP272, the Wednesday 5 August 2020 suggested 0940 hours morning flight from SYD up to TRO was cancelled.

Many FP flights have been flicked at relatively short notice during coronavirus.

During coronavirus, Sunday 27 December 2020 has FP216 (the scheduled 1225 hours lunchtime SYD - NTL short hop) delayed to an expected 1345 hours.

Monday 15 March 2021 sees FP212, the 0910 hours SYD - NTL cancelled. This airline has had quite a few cancellations during coronavirus in calendar 2021 thus far.

Monday 22 March 2021 sees the massive amount of rain affecting Sydney, Newcastle, the mid north coast and up to Byron Bay affecting NSW.

NTL airport looks to be closed so FP212, the 0810 hours ex SYD has been cancelled.

On Monday 3 May 2021, FP421, the 0815 hours SYD up to DGE has been cancelled. This appears to have occurred at 0915 hours, perhaps as a result of the Sydney fog and consequent delays.

Tuesday 12 July 2022 finds FP311 (0700 hours NTL down to CBR, BAe J32 if that's the correct way to describe it) not having taken off until 0820 hours so expected arrival becomes 0933, 93 minutes late.
