I have booked a cruise leaving from Bangkok (cruising to Sydney) next year and will need to organise one-way air. For those who are familiar with travel to this city, what is a good/reasonable price for a one way airfare, so I know what to look for? (A dummy figure stated $A557...is this close?)

Also, how far is it from the airport in Bangkok to the cruise ship terminal (the one Princess Cruises uses)?

Which airline? Qantas, Thai or one with the best price?

Our closest airport to Rockhampton is Brisbane, but I suspect Sydney would offer more flights to Bangkok, and as we have to return from Sydney at the end of the cruise, would Rockhampton - Sydney -Bangkok (cruise to Sydney) then Syd -Rockhamton be the best plan?

Many thanks.

If you can stand it the cheapest one way to bangkok is going to be Jetstar from either BNE or SYD, other wise Malaysia Airlines generally has some decent prices ex Sydney, maybe best to check somewhere like bestflights.com.au if you have definite dates in mind. I find that you get a better selection if you seperate the domestic flights as it generally only brings up qantas if including these, just make sure you leave plenty of time to change terminals.
I think Princess cruises departs from Laem Chabang which is a far distance from Bangkok but only a few kilometres outside Pattaya, if you dont want to stay in BKK when you arrive a metered taxi from the airport to Pattaya has an official price of 1,050 baht, plus 60 baht for expressway charges.Touted limos and mini vans are invariably more expensive, even when factoring in the fact they might hold more people. Even less expensive are the buses that leave from the airport's Transport Centre. To get one, simple take the complimentary shuttle bus from the kerb outside the arrivals area to the Transport Centre and then buy a ticket on one of the buses leaving for Pattaya.
Buses leave about every two hours, cost only THB110, and take about 1 ½ hours for the trip.

If you are going to spend a couple of days in BKK you can get a mini van from the Khao San area for around THB400 p/person or there are frequent buses from the Eastern, southern or northern bus terminals for around THB120
