Flying Sing getting Velocity points

Can you have points to one program and SC's to another? I didn't know that.

I have been unable to add my velocity freqent flyer number to my SQ J booking online via "manage my booking". Rang up to do it via the phone but my Virgin number still does not apper in my booking. Is this normal? I suppoose I will have to check again at checkin:shock:

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago.. however in Y :(

Anyway, I rang KF and they put my Velcoity number in, 'mangae my bookings' still showed my KF number so I again checked at the counter in MEL. My velocity number was attached to the booking yet not printed on the boarding pass.

Result: Received 200SC for MEL-CAN-MEL

A bit fiddly but worth checking for sure.

+1 from me. My VA number was added on booking but never showed on the manage my booking on the SQ site. At check-in was told the number was added, but my KF number was the only one that showed on the BP

Just did OLCI for my SQ flight on Mon Syd-Sin-Cpt. On my BP it states: VA 1234567890 as my FF details. Is that what it should be to credit to Velocity? IS VA correct or should it be DJ? I was always get confused between VA and DJ!

kpc, I think you will get Velocity pts and SCs with VA on yr BPs.

My understanding of the difference in DJ and VA is: (a) DJ - for all Virgin(Australia) metal on domestic and Virgin (Australia) int'l short haul ( confusing definition in itself, on DJ/VA Website), and,
(b) VA, for Virgin (Australia, International) on theri International long haul. EITHER, on own METAL OR, Code-shared partner metal. E.g SQ.

There maybe more to this, from better informed AFFs?

Related question back to you- but admittedly maybe a bit OT?,

How did you get your Velocity number entered in the SQ system to show up.?
Did you book< through (a) a Travel Agent?, (b) DJ/VA website? or (c) through the SQ website, to get your Velocity number entered in the SQ system and show up.?

For (C) - booking on SQ website,You can do this by NOT going into the SQ Kris Fyer Section of the SQ website.
SQ Alliance - What is happening?

If you booked through (b) - the VA/DJ website,
then I am very interested to know if you had any of the Sectors flown with your VA membership number showing on the BP, credited as eligible DJ/VA sectors in you Velocity account?

That sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.

booked through a travel agent, and then the fun and games:shock::confused:. See below

,,,and when I did OLCI tonite, my VA FF no. magically appeared on my BP. I was also thinking of trying to credit the PPS value of the flights to my Sq account, but in the end didn't bother as this will probably be my only J Sq flight in my Sq membership year, and the PPS value will be a long way short of the Sin$25000 to qualify for PPS (again)

I have had success crediting miles and SC to DJ/VA and simultaneously getting the PPS value onto SQ for the purpose of re-qualifying for PPS each year. Obviously this is only possible on SQ metal in R, F or J (and Silkair in J) but I have kept quiet about this as it seems to be getting best of both worlds. Have managed to get to VA/DJ Gold while re-qualifying for PPS this year even though I have mainly been traveling on SQ flights.

How do I add my Sq details? at the airport? I don't want to risk the pts and SCs not going to my Velocity account and going to my Sq account by mistake...you can PM if you like;)

This would only be of intetest if you are a PPS with SQ. I had Krisflyer number in system then had VA number inserted at the airport. Worked ok in MEL and SIN but harder at more remote ports.

I am PPS with SQ & Platinum with DJ. It's brilliant being able to collect Virgin points and status credits, while collecting PPS value. I flt MI too, and collect SQ points instead of DJ on these occasions. I find it's best to use DJ FF in the booking and then add the details later on SQ's website. It credits immediately!

Thanks for that tip:idea:. All my SQ J flights, Syd-Sin-Cpt return credited immediately into my DJ account; as you suggested, I just did a retospective miles claim with Sq, and the PPS values for the flights credited immediately (logged out, then back in again to see the PPS values credited)

Feels like we are getting the best of both programmes. Enjoy it while it lasts. Not that I think it won't last but you never know in the ever changing world of the frequent flyer.

hmmm... tried that via the SQ site under "retroactive claims", but I just get this in response:

"The flight / transaction has already been credited to another frequent flyer / loyalty programme account."

Logged, out and back in but no difference. Is that what you did?

Yes. Your flights are in J, F or suite class? these are the only flights that are eligible for PPS credit.
