Ignoring those $120 and $100 spent offers finally paid off with something more doable.

Latest batch. Some not bad ($30 for 1800), some not very appetising.

I have stopped receiving any offers and also the weekly specials from Coles. Groan....

It seems Coles has been following the blogs a bit too closely, or they've finally employed someone who is switched on.

Since October there appears to have been several significant changes to the FB algorithms for creating the offers - changes that could even be described as 'enhancements'.

The last time changes appeared to have been made was around mid 2019 or so - which caught out quite a few players initially. See this thread back then.

These latest changes are far more focussed (it appears from my analysis).

Prompted by FB's sudden 'loss of love' for our family's individual accounts late last year - I dug into the old receipts sorted into each person's account (yes I keep them for a while as I also like to track how the prices get changed frequently (up) with no fanfare but that's a different story.

A number of things caught my eye after slicing & dicing the receipts.
  1. Be careful how you pay for purchases if say spending $3X with $X across 3 separate accounts - seems to have had a nasty sting added here for one type of payment method. Think about it & work it out without naming it on any blog otherwise the work around will soon fail. After I noticed this - we changed our approach & within 2 weeks we started getting decent offers across all accounts again after nearly 4 months of famine.
  2. Buying a relatively large value item as a one-off (say $15 to $40 price) other than fresh meat - stays on your 'spending profile' for offers for up to 13 weeks it seems & influences what offers you receive. This was not the case previously (compared earlier one-off purchase examples & no ill-effects then). So perhaps, unless really desparate - forgo the 15 to 40 points for that item & buy-it off-FB card by itself.
  3. Having a delay (same day but some minutes) no longer serves any purpose if you pay exactly the same way as you did for the slightly earlier transaction even if it is anothe FB a/c.
  4. C & WW's approach diverged massively starting in 2019 and perhaps someone from WW is now working at C's FB.

Interesting.
I seem to recall an article last year where either FB or EDR announced they would not use payment methods to build customer profiles or attribute it back to FB/WWR accounts. Whether that's true or not is to be determined I guess.
I definitely miss the days of stacking receipt rewards with separate 12 week offers and email offers in the one transaction.

Keep getting “spend $40 at Coles for 1,600pts” back to back. They’ve had a 4 day time period attached to them so roll over to the next quite quickly. Just used my 4th one in a couple of weeks at lunch time.

They suit me as we usually shop at Aldi so it’s easy to load up on a half price special that we need - eg cereal or coconut water - and meet the small spend target.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I finally got a FB offer, spend $30 at Coles and earn 1800 points. Will be interesting to see if they give me another next week. This one was only valid for 3 days.

And another identical offer to be used between tomorrow and Tuesday. Will be quite happy to take them up on it.

I had a spend $30 for 1800 for 3 days this week now have an identical promo valid for the next 3 days which I aim to fulfill
Envy, at worst a 30% discount, and at best (1st class SIA in the old days) a credit of >$50.

I cannot recall such low $$ amounts as a requirement in past years (decades) - perhaps the 'new blood' in the dept is from a CC issuer?

Is it a new a/c, lapsed a/c or consistently used one?

New account, in the six weeks since opening it is first promotion they have given me besides fuel and liquorland offers which I have not bothered doing. Plus even though I opened the FB account I did not do any shopping at Coles. I will do the second shop for my next 1,800 and see if they try and wind up the spend requirements which I will not bite at.

Ta!

Always worthwhile spending as close to the offer amount, within cents is the challenge.

Be careful of getting dragged into (say) 2x $30 spends within the same week, as they have now set your weekly spend target at $60...

Given the relative benefit of 'offers' vs normal spend (1 point per $1 spent) then it pays to do purchases without using your FB card once you've met your targets. Losing 20 or 30 points every week of the year is offset by just one 1,000 or 1,500 point offer a year.....

Although 3600 points for $60 is not too shabby. Undoubtedly when doing it, your spend target will go up, but with a few other options it can continue. I've had a number of regular $30 spends as my recent posts show.

I fulfilled my second spend $30 get 1800 points. By time I got home I had my next offer of spend $30 get 1200. Each of these promos are only valid for 3-4 days. I'm going to let this one pass by as based on what you are all telling me they will continue to wind them up. I'm fortunate in that nether Woolies or Coles are the most convenient for me, so unless there is a good offer I don't venture near them.

My new batch of offers have come in. Starting to see some good history now and trends which are all in this thread.

Insights are:
  1. Account 6 went from 5600/$140 to 4200/$70 (have not used for quite a while.
  2. Account 2 (where no spend has been had for a while) went up from 5600/$140 to 6000/$150
  3. Account 5 did not get an offer, most likely as it began the first week of a four week offer.
  4. Account 4 did not get an offer, no reason why.
  5. Account 1 received same as last 3/4 day promotion (2800/$70), but also snuck in on Sunday as first week of the four week offer so FB's may not have picked it up prior to inventing these offers.
  6. Account 3 retained a very generous offer unlike @Toula92122 who had their points lowered.

Got a 3200pts for $80 yesterday. That indicates I am once again spending too much money at Coles, so time to take a break for a while I think. Had some good promos lately that I have taken advantage of, but back to WW.
