Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

AS BUZZARD pointed out above, I too was overseas last weekend and had to transfer my remaining Flybuys points to Velocity. Initially I received the same error, however by using my VPN located in Australia I was then able to complete the transfer in seconds.

VPN works...I'm happy for a geo-lock. Most reward systems and gambling sites in Oz are similar .. a couple of times I've missed out of tipping the perfect round because I was o/s.

Well it's still happening. I got this error message when trying to do a flybuys -> Velocity transfer yesterday because I happen to be in New Zealand.

Oh well, their loss. I'll just transfer when I get back to Australia tomorrow, and now I'll be eligible for the 15% bonus offer that started today...

As usual, I've been accumulating Flybuys and waiting for the next 15% Virgin bonus. Today it arrived, 3 days after I departed on an overseas trip. Doing a transfer through my home proxy worked fine, but not everyone has that or a VPN setup.

As a comparison, transferring Amex Membership Rewards points over works fine without any of the geo-blocking stupidity of FlyBuys.

The geo-block is very stupid and we should all complain - how can overseas people rip off FlyBuys given that you actually have to visit a supermarket to earn them!
