Flybuys for newbies AKA ex Woolies customers

Email offers usually appear in the account first and then you receive the actual email a few hours later. Only the email offers are recorded in your account. You will have to manually keep track of the docket deals and the coupons sent via the snail mail. You can activate the email offers via your account or via the email.
 
With my Flybuys points, I opt to redeem them for Coles Git Cards, eg, a $50 card. I then use the gift card for shopping, and move $50 from my bank account normally used to pay for food via my credit card, over to my travel account to help pay for future airline tickets. I figure $50 cash is worth more than the 75 QFF points I'd get using the ANZ Amex Credit Card in this instance. Is there a flaw in my logic?

I have joined Etihad Guest, although I hate the airline. One poxy Y flight soured me for life. I suspect, for me, it is a waste of time and effort as the amount of points I would need for a J flight would be way beyond what I could ever earn with shopping. But one should keep all options open - just in case.

Woolies might one day see the error of their ways, but somehow I doubt it. Coles will use this heaven sent opportunity to help Woolies dig their hole even deeper!
 
I was wondering how other people were going with the extra point coupons and offers on the dockets. I have shopped at coles about 4 times since starting flybuys ranging from $5 to $35 shops and no bonus offers on the dockets at all.

It does take about a month or so for docket deals to start showing up on the receipts. Flybuys are probably just trying to gather demographic information first. Well done for keeping the transactions low. This will be useful in the long run. Good luck
 
I am wondering if it is possible to add other FB card numbers to pool the points to my account? Eg, can my partner swipe his card and I collect the points in my account? Many thanks.

No but you can order him a supplementary card on your account

If you want to pool points into the same account, follow andye's advice. If you want to get better targeted offers on each account, keep swiping separately and be careful to swipe the right card on each transaction.
 
I bought a Coles Myer Group gift card in Coles and, as I knew, I didn't get any points.
I then used that card in Officeworks, part of the Coles Group but not part of Flybuys, but I didn't get any points either.

Is that right? You don't get points unless you spend the gift card in a store that is part of the Flybuys group?

I assumed that the gift card would be linked to your Flybuys account when you bought it so you would get points when you used it. It seems, though, that it's the spending of the gift card and the scanning of Flybuys at the time you use it that triggers the points, which isn't possible in Officeworks.

It seems odd that you spend the money in Coles but don't get rewarded.

Thats right as you wouldnt have got FBs in Officeworks. If you are an AGL customer you can get Coles vouchers at a discount but this the only 'hack' that I know would work in the case you mention*. Bunnings vouchers do earn points (and give a small amount of cash in change)

* Edit: apart from plat edge/dj amex supermarket bonus points

No different to Masters or DM's being part of the Woolies group and getting no EDR points is it?

I think this was a rookie error by Woolies ..... It would have been a cost affective way to leverage customer loyalty, yet they missed it.

Found a good redemption for FBs on Gold Coast at the weekend.
Family wanted to go to Sea World.
There were 7 of us so that was looking at over $500

Checked my usual discount portals (Ent Book, Ambassador Card, NRMA) and couldn't do better than 10% off
Finally, remembered that FB sometimes have offers and managed to get 2 for 1 vouchers at 16200 adult, 13500 under 13s
Effective FB yield of over 1c/pt

Realise that there are widely available passes that offer discounts for visiting two or more parks that give similar 'value' but we only had time to go to one.
These 2 for 1 offers seem to come and go on the site, but worth checking FB if you need such tickets
