Just got an email from webjet saying from 31st Jan they're ceasing participation with flybuys.

I only ever used flybuys points to book hotels through webjet as hotels dont have a booking fee unlike webjet flights.

I only got the email as I have used or earnt flybuys through webjet in the past.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've never understood how webjet is still in business.

^This. Webjet is such a rip-off.

I wonder which one withdrew from the Flybuys partnership - Flybuys or Webjet? And I wonder if EY had a say in it?

Webjet flight redemptions were certainly a Rort with all the additional fees.
Although redeeming Flybys points for hotel accommodation through Webjet was good value for money with no additional fees and extremely price competitive compared to Qantas, Expedia, Booking. Com etc ( I suspect the 10-20% commissions kick in behind the scenes).
I didn't think I would say this, but I may end up converting Flybys points to Etihad now, although I will need to crunch the numbers as I will still remain loyal to QF/OW for flying.

Good riddance to those con artists.

I think they still fail to realise most people only use their site to compare fares then go off and book directly with an airline anyway. If they removed their ridiculous fees maybe more would have used them.

I didn't mind webjet for flybuys redemption for flights. if you had about $100 worth of flybuys points (10,000 points), you could save $50 to 60$ off a fare. Not great, but still a good way to spend flybuys when I needed to book flights.

Use $100 worth of Flybuys points to save $50 off a plane ticket? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.

Most people seem to use it as a shopping discount but there is some arbitrage on EY redemptions and some 2-for-1 attraction passes

Would be nice if Flybuys brought back direct redemptions with Qantas and Virgin.

Some hotel redemptions are good when they go on special.
