Guys,

I'm flying MEL-SYD at 2100 tommorow with the lady, in J on an award booking.

I may be getting to the airport earlier than I expected so is it possible to perhaps bring the flight forward an hour? I don't hold any status with QF and not sure if they even allow it but thought I would ask anyway.

Cheers

If there is space, I have usually been offered an earlier flight. Just check-in at the counter and they might offer it. Alternatively, ask at the lounge.

The check-in kiosks will often offer you an earlier flight if your fare conditions allow changes.

Thanks Guys, just noticed the flight is a 737-400... :(

Will just cross my fingers and see I can change the flight in the lounge, the only award availabilty showing at the moment is 1hr earlier on a 767 however it looks like I need to use 7000pts to change?

If your flight was a classic award (which you didn't specify in your original post) then these are normally not changeable without a service fee.

Maybe ask in the lounge and see what they can do (I only use JASA domestically so these have been changed when asked without questions)

Was booked as a classic award. Looks like I'll just try my luck and we what happens! Cheers

If you get a nice agent I reckon you'll be ok for that hour of the day - particularly if you only have carry on luggage. If you have luggage I'm thinking the lounge won't be able to assist you & you'll need to sort it at check-in!

If no joy - just indulge in the surrounds & hospitalities of the J lounge:)

I haven't seen mention of luggage. If you have any, find a business class service desk at the checkin area and ask. Once luggage is checked in you probably don't have much chance in the lounge.

Sitting in MEL business lounge now and got a great service agent and moved us to the 6:40pm flight.

Very happy!

Glad to hear the positive outcome hummel.

I have managed to change my YASA once from a later flight to a flight that was acutally in the final stage of boarding. Granted, there were plenty of spare seats left on the new service and I only have cabin luggage. I was in and out of the SYD QP in literally one minute.
