I know on point to point Red e-Deal tickets, the chances of flow forwards (moving to an earlier flight) are hit and miss and can depend on Qantas operations at the time. The argument is that only higher priced flexible fares are allowed flow forwards to encourage the purchase of these fares. If the customer wants flexibility they should buy the higher cost ticket.

But how about a flow foward of the domestic sector of a DOM-INT QF single ticket connecting flight? There is no real advantage to the customer (except perhaps more international lounge time :) ) and Qantas reduces the chance of a miss-connect that they would be responsible for.

Are flow forwards easier to get on the DOM sector of DOM-INT connections?

I've never had a problem getting flow forward on a DOM-INT connection. In fact, it's often been proactively offered to me.

Yes - we've always got them and from chatting to checkin staff they are encouraged to put PAX on the next available flight - SYD can get so busy - it seems to me that moving the transfer desk to Gate 15 has made it busier - I know this is nonsense but it just seems busier.

Most of our stuff in MEL-SYD and then on to wherever.

I tried to get on an earlier flight out of CBR last month with a connection in SYD to SIN.
No luck :(.

Every minute above our arrival time was a minute less in the Flounge!

I suspect Fifa is right. I seem to recall several refusals before. I was wondering how it is now. I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

... and the answer is: Allowed! At the domestic international transfers check-in desk in MEL. :)

I think some people are talking about DOM-INT, some are talking about INT-DOM

I'm talking about DOM-INT. The INT-DOM afaik has always been pretty flexible.

Good luck.
I really think it depends on the person you ask ;).

Since I do HLO I was at MEL J Lounge very early this morning, I asked if it was possible and the lounge angel looked but sadly there was no availability.

My 7.00am MEL-SYD flight was absolutely packed, not even a shadow nexr to the P1! The man sitting next to me was heading to LAX-JFK and had been moved forward from the 7.30am flight.

Glad I had a priority card for immigration, the queues were horrendous.

Still I felt the love when I was given a new BP departing from the SYD F lounge after my 5 minutes there. Moved to row 1.

The only reason I even bothered going in was because I left an item in the MEL J lounge and asked if they could ring to see if it had been found, it had :) and I'll collect it when I go through on Thursday.
