from news.com.au:

TRAVELLERS can fly to destinations around Australia for less than the price of carton of beer thanks to cut-price airline Tiger Airways.

As part of its latest discount assault on rivals Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue, Tiger Airways has aggressively cut the cost of some of its airfares.
Seems some airlines is getting desperate. Some unsustainable fares around at the moment. Some of these fares are cheaper than the fuel surcharges we were paying a year ago.

Is Tiger making any money? I wonder if they are giving the seats away hoping that people will end up cancelling flights, paying extra for luggage etc.

It would be hard to give up that carton of beer although I would be tempted to give Tiger a go if they had a decent schedule, and kept to it, and flew out of Sydney to worthwhile destinations.

Hi all,

I wonder if Tiger's low fares are just a way for SQ to annoy QF.:?:

Fares at this level can not be sustainable and will surely lead to massive loses, even if they upsell "extras".

No, but they are loosing heaps.

Probably.

I think you are safe. To many ifs to worry about.
