I have a routing problem. I would like to go to the USA, New York, Denver, Hawaii and back to SYD. I can book the QF to NYC but really difficult to get back from Hawaii etc. US based carriers want to take me back via LAX or SFO. QF want to charge a fortune.

We would prefer One World carriers but not too worried about the internal US flights
Y, Y+ and J are fares options. F (maybe) internal US. 2 plus a 2 year old

Any suggestions on carrier or types of fare would be appreciated. Is there a multi stop fare available for US that includes Hawaii? Travel time is June / July:?:

Thanks on anticipation of some great answers:)

I would either contat a reputable travel agent or QF res and ask them to quote you an open jaw return fare based on a routing such as below. They can also advise you what fares are combineable eg half return PE SYD/JFK half return whY SYD/HNL. Even though you are travelling HNL/SYD the half return fares are based on the ex Australia fare levels.

a) SYD/JFK - HNL/SYD (then do sector fares JFK/DEN/HNL separately)

b) SYD/JFK - LAX/HNL/SYD (then do sector fares JFK/DEN/LAX separately)

For some reason the QF website is not good for open jaw fares or mixed class fares & the multi city tool is of no use because it will just quote one way fares not half a return SYD/JFK & half a return SYD/HNL.

There are website such as www.jetabroad.com.au which have a multi city tool & have the option of quoting return fares with a stopover which not all airline sites can do.

Generally for US domestic flights I use www.priceline.com to compare prices initially before booking directly on the airlines' own web site.

thanks for the suggestions BB and Ash

Cheers
