PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Thank you! Looks like there is a small chance. I am SG but there are 2 of us so I am not veey confident but there is hope!
QF82 has gone out full in J pretty much every night recently while Y loads seem pretty low. Ms was on QF 82 on Wed night and scored a middle row for herself- J light I call it.

Im kind of surprised that QF82 is so full in J - I thought QF2 would be the flight that most people pick to come back to SYD as it is the A380 and also leaves SIN a little earlier (so better for business travellers)

Hello, can I please have loadings for this flight checked?

2 June 2023 / QF654 / PER-SYD

QF 654PER 02/06/2023 11.55p → SYD 03/06/2023 6.05a

Looks a bit tight! Seat map shows 5 unselected seats in J.

Same same appreciated for QF1 between 06-11 June. Outright Classic. Trying to find optimal dates to put to Revenue Management for release. Tx.
If you are looking for a J release there is nothing close to I class availability (or P) on QF 1 and also nothing close out of MEL over that date range.

In my experience even with good numbers I’ve been unable to convince them to release any seats on QF1. The blackout periods seem to run most of the year

Thank you. Would it be safe to say QF2 better chance for an upgrade vs QF82 given more J availability?

🤷‍♂️

Perhaps - bigger bird, 4-class with W available to soak up some demand.

But then you have C as well as J availability on the 82.

The big determinant: status?

I would go QF2. I had the same choice for an upcoming flight in June and picked QF82 - which now looks full in J whereas QF2 looks to have good availability in both J and W..... so I will be flying Y.

As I said before - QF82 over the past weeks went out full every day, often with J sold out days in advance.

Personally, to me that makes sense to pick QF82 over QF2 because if you want to lounge in the QR premium lounge, they don’t open before 6pm, so QF2 is too tight (for my personal preference), and I also prefer a 6am arrival over a 5am arrival in SYD. I will be on QF82 rather than QF2 on 22 June for exactly these reasons.

I do agree with you on this - I also picked QF82 for a longer transit in SIN - I am coming from SGN on VN so wanted to have time to spare - and I also plan on visiting both the EK and QF lounges. Im only SG so cant use the QR lounge which is a shame.
