PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi everyone,

I have the same upgrade request on QF7 SYD-DFW on the 30/8. Firstly, I hope there is similar availability and chance for upgrade success on my flight but I really don't understand what it all means on EF.

Is someone able to give a quick lesson to at least get me started or at least put up a legend as to what flying class/bucket each of the letters mean

Have you had a read of the EF threads?

I'll post the table of QF fare classes but I recommend you use a combination of reading threads and searching the internet and old fashioned reasoning to figure out the rest.
Not because I can't be bothered sitting here for half an hour writing an explanation, but because learning is mostly about the process.
If you go through the process you'll understand the information better and learn a lot of other things along the way.
This isn't intended to be patronising. Just hoping you will enjoy the process as much as I did when I embarked on it.

Hey all, thanks in advance, I didn't know this thread was a thing!

I'm on QF7 from Syd to DFW on the 19th of August in economy (as part of a larger CBD to LGA trip) and have a classic upgrade to business requested. What do my chances look like as a WP?

This is what Expert Flyer says:

F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I0 W8 R8 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0

With at least nine seats left in J, C & D classes I would say your chances are pretty good!

Hi everyone, is there anyone who can check QF73 Sydney to San Fran for me on the 1st September. I have used points to book premium economy and have asked for an upgrade to business. What are my chances? I'm only bronze.
thanks, I really appreciate your help.

Both PE and J still look pretty open, so you might be lucky. Let us know how you get on.

Hi

Can I please ask for the following flights:

VA7 departure 17 August 2016 (BNE to LAX) - they have a bid now option to upgrade from Y to Y+ at 395USD, can I please ask for loadings for Y and Y+

DL6794 departure 20 August 2016 (LAX to BNE) - not upgrade eligible - just checking for loadings for Y as picked a row of 3 and left a space between us.

Thank you

Is anyone able to see if there any SQ flights between Melbourne and Singapore on either 12 or 13 April have two seats available in I class

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any. However, there are 2x I class (J award) seats from ADL to SIN on SQ278 on 12 April.

It's true that ExpertFlyer doesn't appear to show anything in 'I' class, but I have always found EF to be quite temperamental when it comes to award inventory for SQ. The easiest way I have found to check availability is to login to your KrisFlyer account at the SQ website and do a search for redemption flights for however many pax are in your party. The search allows you to page a day back/forward at a time after the result is displayed, so it's easy enough to check days either side.

Doing this, and based on your requirements, I could see that there are 2 J seats available to redeem in 'Saver' (55K KF miles, per person, each way) on both SQ208 and SQ218 from MEL-SIN on Thursday April 13. There's only wait-listed seats on SQ238 & SQ228.

Cheers,
Matt.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the prompt response. I should have probably been more clear as I'm wanting to use points from my United MileagePlus account to get these flights so would availability still be the same?

Cheers,

Cheers,

I just cross-checked with the ANA website. (As you're probably aware, SQ flights don't appear on the United website so it's not all that useful.) I wasn't able to see the MEL-SIN award flights mentioned above, however the ADL-SIN flight does still appear to be available.

Yep that's the only option I was offered when I called but the flight leaves ADL so early it requires you overnight there. Most operators at MP seem a little clueless in booking SQ so I had to HUACA a couple of times before I was even offered that option.

Guess I'll book the indirect option with TG and keep my eye out in case anything opens up on SQ; or alternatively look at options out of AKL.

Thanks for all your help, glad I found this forum
