PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I know award fare buckets for QF are X, U, and P (I think I'm right, right??!!). What are award fare buckets on other airlines? I'm (mainly) interested in OneWorld carriers. Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much. I've got KVS and I use it often (and like it a lot). But when using other tools, such as ExpertFlyer, one needs to use the actual fare buckets used by airlines (P for example, as opposed to FS in KVS). I wonder if there is a list of those somewhere? Or have I misinterpreted your point entirely?

Re: QF 11/12 vs QF 93/94 [upgrade chances]

Just recently returned from LAX on QF12 and received an upgrade for my Wife and I.

We departed on Wednesday, arriving sydney Friday.

They must have had a few upgrade requests which were fulfilled as beforehand a on checking the availability there was about 30 J class seats available, and when on the plane J class was full!

Hi,

My wife and I are booked on QF36 SIN - MEL on 3-Jan-2015. What do you think our chances are? We are both Silver QFF and currently the upgrade request has been made through her account.

Based on my scheduled flights I will be QFF Gold by mid-December. Would we be better of cancelling the request in her Silver QFF account and re-doing though my then Gold, or would it be better just holding onto it in Silver?

Thanks!

Well, J isn't full, but you don't know how many WP are in front of you in the queue: J9 C7 D2 I0 U0 Y9 B4 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0
Upgrades are processed by FF status, the points could be deducted from the account of any family member.

Thanks! So even though my Silver wife requested, my gold will be taken into account? Or do I re-request?

No need to re-request. My understanding is that the only case in which the "requester" status is important is when a WP1 requests an upgrade for a family member.

Both types of Booking Class Codes are listed at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#OneWorld

This looks like the thread to ask - ( forward thanks to the experts with advanced knowledge / expertise ... )

Going to Gallipoli next year ( bookings for two ) ...

Have booked and paid for Flex Economy, with Business upgrade requests lodged for 'there and back'.

I know it could be a 24 hr. ( thereabouts ) decision, but what are my likely chances ??

Flights:

QF459 SYD - MEL @ 18:00hrs. 22/04/15.
QF9 MEL- DUB @ 22:55hrs. 22/04/15.
QF8121 ( Emirates ) DUB - IST @ 14:20hrs. 23/04/15. ( no upgrade possible)

BA677 IST - LON @ 17:35hrs. 28/04/15. ( no upgrade possible )
QF10 LON - DUB @13:30hrs. 05/05/15.
QF2 DUB - SYD @09:20hrs. 06/05/15.

There is no point looking at loading 5 months in advance. 3 to 6 weeks before the flight could give you a better picture.
I also guess you mean DXB (Dubai) and not DUB (Dublin);)

DXB ( Dubai ) - yes, thanks for that.

OK, thanks for your advice.

Given I have a Flex booking, I can look at other options, and maybe re-book. Was advised by QANTAS, that my fare is fully refundable ( back to cc ).

I needed to have something booked ASAP, given the 'rules' imposed by the Gallipoli Ballot situation, but now I'm 'confirmed' with DVA for a Ballot pass, I'll check out what else I can do.

Hi everyone. This is a bit different - we have booked in J but cant select seats on the domestic leg of our flight (Gold QFF). Could someone see if maybe J is full and maybe even overbooked? Saturday 27th December QF 736 - Adelaide to Sydney at 13.25

The flight looks quite full: J2 C2 D1 I0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0

That is still showing seats in J, isn't it? Just seems strange we can't select them. Might be another "overbooked" thread coming up. :p

Thankyou for the detailed response. :p Another Gold member has just confirmed what you've just said so not sure why we have the issue. Like you said, it is probably a row 3 issue.

Actually, I've just cancelled the above-mentioned flights ...

I tried looking at the OW offering of flights ( something I should have done earlier ), and after a few hours, I've stumbled upon a combination that will allow me to book a combined 'paid / Reward' series of flights in Business - to Istanbul and return to Sydney.

I'll book a series of flights with some several legs, but at least I have every leg in Business - and it is for certain - not a 'wait and see' if an upgrade is successful at the 24 hr mark ...
