Malindo Air flight attendants have been smuggling in contraband according to AFP

2x FA who were working for Malindo Air now charged, remanded and accused of being part of a Vietnamese syndicate. Total 9 arrested

I thought Malaysia is tough on drugs - the flight originated in KUL.

Tough on drugs doesn't mean no supply :(

I read somewhere that KUL doesn't have body scanners for outbound pax? So that might explain why the cabin crew originated there.

MM wave scanners are coming to KLIA (KUL) from later this year. Security checks occur at the gate so I’m not sure if all gates are going to have these scanners.

Malindo air is based in KUL

Indeed. But perhaps the syndicate chose KUL because of the lack of body scanners.

That one person was able to state to police in Oz that they'd brought in drugs 20 plus times raises a few questions.

Occasionally, I've observed flight crew arriving in Oz being directed to 'lane number 2' in MEL, but most seem to not be. Mind you, only a minority of passengers have to face a second ABF staffer, and an even smaller number are questioned or have belongings searched.
