You might have triggered some “fare use” threshold? Although that seems unlikely but that could throttle the download speed.
RE network selection, on iPhone I just disable “Automatic” and see what networks appear and try them one by one. If there’s something better, the phone should stick to that network until you go back to Automatic.
No, the low speeds of the new plan started immediately when I started the discounted plan. The Mastercard 3 GB plan that I used immediately before it, worked perfectly.
The fix might’ve genuinely occurred when the chat person reset some things, but I am suspicious that the low speeds were as a result of it being a very heavily discounted plan and the chat person just overrode that or something similar.
Before the chat, whenever I disabled automatic network selection, it simply showed me one network with no choices.

Orright. It’s now morning here in Athens. Yesterday, when I was on the chat with FlexiRoam, initially wanting to cancel the plan, I bought a small Kolet plan with the credit I have with them to use just in case Flexiroam actually did allow me to cancel my plan and get a refund.
So just now I compared them side-by-side. Kolet gives me 30 Mbps over a number of speed tests using the Nova network, 5G. FlexiRoam gives me consistently 9 Mbps also using the Nova network, 5G.
Kolet give me a choice of three networks. Flexiroam, only the one.
But hey, it’s a heavily discounted, high volume plan available for a year and after the tweaks, it’s performing quite okay for walking around, so I can say I’m happy now, just a bit of drama at the start.
As I’ve said before, when it comes to e-sims (and possibly some other things), I’m a simple soul and I’ve taken to using Kolet because, although it’s not the cheapest, it just worked consistently well. So now, having the FlexiRoam as the workhorse and Kolet available for the odd sprint seems to be a good solution.
