I was flying home to SYD from MEL yesterday and had a 6:30pm departure booked (flexi-saver). I didn't call to change, turned up at the airport around 7 and moved to the 7:30 flight.

Just out of interest, I checked the fare rules and they state that you can only change before departure and not no-show. Hmmm, was I lucky, or was this general practice. I'm sure I've done it lots of times before, but then quite often don't book until the day of travel, or at the earliest the evening before travel so often end up on fully-flex fares anyway. Is this different depending on what "level" of flexi-saver you get - yesterday I was on a B class fare?

A B class fare is part of the Fully Flexible family and therefore is able to be changed even if you no show. :)

And if I was on on M class fare and wanted to move to a later flight same day without changing prior to the original departure time?

While our ground staff try to assist wherever possible, M class fares are part of the Flexi Saver family and therefore changes are not permitted after the scheduled departure time and the fare is forfeited.
