Got a bit of a curly one. A friend of mine is looking at flying from the USA to Australia on FJ in J. He's going to be staying off in Fiji for a few days on the way over, and found a strange luggage rule.

The LAX-NAN leg allows 2 pieces of baggage, but NAN-SYD only allows one. On the return flight he's not stopping, just going straight through to LAX with a layover in NAN.

As they're all going to be issued on the same ticket, will FJ honour 2 pieces NAN-SYD, with the stopover? He's wanting to bring two pieces, so thought i'd see if anyone knows. I'm assuming that SYD-NAN-LAX should be ok with two pieces as the 'highest rule' should apply (the NAN-LAX one).

Anyone able to offer thoughts?

If all flights are on the same ticket I don't know why FJ don't put 2 pieces on all the sectors.

If the bags are checked LAX/NAN/SYD then I would expect the 2 pc rule to apply for the entire journey due to the MSC rule.

They're not that's the issue, it's a 2 day stopover in NAN, so the bags will be checked LAX-NAN, then re-checked NAN-SYD a few days later.

I would assume being on the same ticket it should be OK, but just want to confirm.

The return is SYD-NAN-LAX, so i'll assume the 2 piece rule will stick as the NAN-LAX permits it and it's all on one ticket (all segments are on the same though).

Bumping this. My friend has subsequently booked his flights, with a multiple day stopover in NAN.

Fiji's website says nothing, but I'm still going to assume that as he's flying in and out on the same ticket, the 2 bags rule will apply?
