First Virgin flights coming up - question about food

I've just swapped my usual Qantas Friday flight (around lunch time) and Monday morning flight next week for Virgin flights - partly because having been status-matched I thought I might as well give it a go, and partly because of more Qantas industrial action slated for Friday.

My question is this - the only menu I can find on the (quite annoying) Virgin website (what's with having to click on about six dfferent things to get to my bookings, which is the bit I really need to get to?) doesn't have anything about breakfast options.

Presumably I'm not likely to be offered a meat pie for breakfast? What are the on-board breakfast options likely to be (I'm in PE, flying ML-CBR at 7.15am)?

thanks
Rebekka

Most likely banana bread an orange juice or something like that?

I normally eat in the lounge and don't bother with / eat a lot of plane food.

Me too - but nice to eat some fruit or something on the plane - I usually order a fruit platter special mel on Qantas and eat some hot breakfast in the lounge.

was wondering what the Virgin options are likely to look like.

I really hope it's not banana bread...

I have only flown with VA 4 times so far. Always asked for and got an apple.

DJs Breakfast options are absolutely woeful, its Banana bread or bust although Lukes juice is nice! At least if your early enough a toastie in the lounge is a viable alternative.

How hard would ham and cheese croissants be?

I have to agree, Virgin's breakfast options are pretty poor (ignoring the recently introduced pancakes!)

I like the sound of Ham and Cheese Croissants!

Yesterday morning's breakfast Syd - Mel was a muffin, apple and a muesili bar type thing with orange juice and tea or coffee. Flexi fare.

as a PE guest, entry to the lounge is included in the fare, so it may be an idea to have some food in the lounge prior to boarding

Onboard, the only options that will be available to you is whats on this menu, as PE guest your choices are complimentary
Virgin Australia

I'm platinum, so would have lounge access anyway - and will eat in the lounge beforehand, but I'd seen that menu and couldn't believe that was what they were offering for breakfast.

Pies? M&Ms? These are not breakfast foods! I assumed they'd be doing something else that wasn't on a menu - I guess I assumed incorrectly.

Pies are offered after 11am on selected flights only ( i think)

I believe if you were traveling in business class there is a completely different Luke Mangan menu all together ( both A330 / 737)
But at this stage it is only offered on -

SYD-PER (CURRENT)
BNE/MEL - PER ( AS OF 28TH SEP)

Currently traveling Premium Economy, choices are from the standard menu.

( remember that PE is being phased out in the future)

I actually quite like the apple slices in the sealed bag! I know that doesn't sound too appealing, but I've always found them to be fresh and tasty (but I must admit, I can't remember if they're in the flexi meal or PE)

they are quite nice, BUT are only included in the tray for FLEXI guests

Could have breakfast pies! Bacon and egg inside! :D

Hmm, when I said I had changed flights because of the industrial action, didn't you suggest that I had been a little silly in doing this, and talked about Qantas safety record?

Certainly did not - check what I actually said. The reason I mainly fly Qantas is their safety record - or rather, their commitment to safety - and I certainly wouldn't fly Virgin if Qantas was grounded for safety reasons that also affected Virgin (ash clouds, for example). But I don't think you'll find I said anything like you were silly or shouldn't have changed flights.
