First Time on the ATR - Front or Back?

How? I didn't notice any major difference worth noting between the two.

Q400 was quieter but probably because I'm in row 1 normally on QF and in the DJ ATR last row so behind the props.

I just found the seats and aisles a lot winder compared to the Q400, with what seemed to be more legroom too.

Fair enough I don't think they are materially different in any respect

The ATR looks like a humpback whale from the outside though... Not as sleek as the Q400. Not that it really matters!

I prefer front (rows 1-3) as having slightly less noise and more comfortable ride in bumpy flights.

Certainly confused by auto allocation to row 17 the first time flying in one of these, until walking out and seeing the rear door only.

Prefer them to the DASH-8, even the Q400. And much prefer the price on BNE-GLT!

I love the Q400 over the ATR. Why? Its almost 150km/h faster (275 v 360 kts).

The -600 have a large left front door which the -500s lack.

As previously discussed this is hardly relevant over the legs they normally fly. You can loose or gain more time from ATC variations.

I was sat in row 17 landing into PQQ and it felt like we were using the entire width of the runway in the ATR!

Mmm have to disagree.

Q400 is quieter and more comfortable. ATR feels like flying in PNG or something.

Push comes to shove I'd give the Q400 a 9/10 for a turbprop, ATR 6/10. Once DJ sort out the forward door (the back door only is a PITA for everyone involved) might bump that assessment up to 7/10.
