hey audio1200, welcome to AFF! I'd suggest between 10am and 2pm. Outside of business travelling hours.

Welcome

I find if you are flying J, anytime is good :)

Enjoy the experience whatever the time you fly

Have just made a few mel-syd-mel rund and J was never full.

advice for first timers - just enjoy it, nothing whatsoever to worry about.

even some decent wine at times.

cheers'

Another first time flyer on the board!

As I'm from Perth I don't get on SYD-MEL vv much at all, and definitely not in J.

But Saturdays and Sundays (although perhaps not Sunday night) should give you a good experience.

Don't forget you get entry into the business class lounge in certain ports too - SYD and MEL being two of them :)

I am reminded on when I first joined AFF. I used to think these people speak a different language. J,Y,B, Silver, Gold, SC, what the?
So now I have this link on my desktop.
Travel class - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And below is a copy from this site.

Business class codes
  • C, J, D, I, Z
On many airlines, C or J indicate full fare business class, whereas discounted and thus restricted and typically non-upgradeable fares are represented by D, I or Z.
The codes in short:
  • C, J = Full-fare Business Class,
  • D, I, Z = Business Class Discounted,
  • (a lowercase "n" after any class code indicates Night Service)
