First time AA flyer

Can anyone help me understand what I have done. Just completed a booking on AA website, TUC - LAX. During the booking process, 3 prices came up, "Choice" @ $228, "Flexible" @ $699 and "Instant upgrade" @ $396.
I thought that Instant upgrade, was an upgrade to the next higher class, ie Y to J or F so that is what I chose. After paying for this then going to the seat allocation I discovered the plane is a 1 class Y plane.

Question.......What did I get for my extra money if anything.

Somehow I don't think you really mean TUC, which is aTucuman, Argentina. Do you really mean TUS (Tucson, Arizona USA)? AA operate CRJs on the TUS-LAX route, so single class as you noted. As there is no F cabin there is no opportunity for the instant upgrade to actually result in an upgrade on the non-stop flight. But the fare may also be valid for TUS-PHX-LAX in which case you could get an F seat on the PHX-LAX segment if the relevant class availability is found.

Sorry, yes TUS. This is a 0 stop flight so no PHX-LAX leg. Ok, so no flight upgrade, what about receiving any perks on the ground or have I just done my money

No extra perks that your QF Gold status won't already get you.

Indeed US Air fly TUS-PHX-LAX in First on both legs (80 enhanced status credits) for $323 USD. Might be worth calling AA and seeing if there's any recourse since your booking was very recent if you want to change it over.

Thanks, I am going to be strapped for time so will stick to the direct flight and the dep and arr times of what I have booked suit very well. Thanks

So you are on a flight operated by AA.They also now show the US operated flights but they are a 1 stop and hence an upgradeable sector.
Just looking now for the AA operated flights on a couple of dates it says F unavailable and not offering instant upgrade.But does for the US operated flights(but with AA codeshare).

Yep operated by AA but you seem to have encountered a glitch.When I look at that flight I get this-

Thanks Drron, I am back to my desktop now and was wondering where you got this booking table from and I have now found the exact same one on the AA (American) website. When I did my bookings, by default, it put me onto the Australian website and the availability came up exactly as I had put it (and still does).
I have fired off a email to AA to see if I have any options.

Well that would explain it but it really shouldn't happen should it.
Definitely see what they will do but they shouldn't offer a fare that they cant honour.
