It was also my first QF flight after a solid 9 months of flying DJ and so yes, dissapointing all round as the DJ are just so far ahead of the game now I think.

Horses for courses. I find DJ lack a lot and are behind. Especially IFE!

I'm on this flight too. Shortest time on a plane ever - last aircraft that went unserviceable I got to spend around 45 minutes in the seat before QF gave up and put us on another flight.

I did have time to see the in-pocket iPads and wonder how they're actually secured :)
haha awesome - what seat were you in? maybe we sat near each other :p

I was in the seat of the refurbished 767 for only a few minutes before a pilot on the PA welcomed us and said that due to the windscreen issue it was decided the best way to get us to our destination was to change to another aircraft. They'd already stopped boarding and those of us (some of whom had been eager to get to the front of the queue and/or use priority boarding, like me :p) who were already on sighed and headed back out. Apart from the iPad and holder in the headrest I didn't see any difference in Y, apart from some kind of painted design on the a bulkhead. I've sat in the refurbished (or new??) 737 in J and the coffee colour scheme didn't do it for me.

26A. and you? It was the closest window seat I could get to the front.

We were close! 24B! (Sorry to get ahead of you as a PS :p)

I think I might have put my carry-on above your seat as I had no room up top of mine on the first aircraft - I darted back to get it as soon as they said we were moving a/c

Small world!

Not a problem - unless the most forward window seat is in row 40 or something I'll always go for an A or K... I haven't tired of the view yet. Think I saw the FA talk to you about your connection?

Also kind of remember the carry-on bag - I didn't use the overhead bins and it's not as if you were putting your bags in a J locker and walking back to row 80 :p

hahaha

Nah, Sydney was my final destination - there was a lady in front of me heading to Santiago that had the connection problem - I think she was the culprit filling up the overhead bins, had 3 carry on bags (but had a new born, given the travel coming up that is fair enough I think!)

In any case I am flying Virgin to ADL this morning and have a BSI 737-800 waiting for me here at T2, never been on a BSI before. Let's hope this one doesn't go tech on me!!

Had confirmation as follows:

Refurb 767 will fly SYD-HNL-SYD schedule is not yet finalised.

QF often leave 24 to be chosen by all as it has no window.

Flying on a 767 on friday Adl - Syd QF764. Fingers crossed i land a refurb. Also flying J, whats the best seats in the J cabin? I managed to snag 1A and 1B for myself and my partner. But looking on seat guru it says that there not best seats with some draw backs. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Was in 4A and 4B before. Only a NB as well flying on a JASA.

For a 2 1/2 hour flight any seats will be ok. I prefer front row as you get served first and it is easier to catch the FA's eye for a top up ;)

True that. Least i can say i rode the front of the bus for once. Isn't there also a tv screen in the bulkhead wall too for row 1? Like the 738's in J. Now i just got to hope i don't get knock out of my seat selection by one of those gold or platinum flyers.

Not sure re the IFE - I never watch it. If you bag the seat now it would be very unlikely that you will be moved. Certainly not for a SG or WP - probably not for a P1 but maybe for a CL.

Have heard an INT config 763 with updated interior and ipads will be operating before Xmas(dont have the inservice date)

Could have got 23 but decided against it due to the bassinet - good choice in the end, a Mum with bub was there :)

Looks like they are flying OGK around a bit

What a fatuous argument. For a start not everyone checks luggage and if they do they don't all max out the allowance. There is also no current suggestion that they are going down this path.

All companies are looking to cut costs where they can. For example EK fly to AKL because it works out cheaper than parking in SYD. Does that make them an LCC?

Sorry for the late reply.

If as stated by some, the reason for refurbing the planes the way it is done now, is to save money on fuel, than you might as well adopt other LCC policies (which are not being proposed at the moment). My comment was directed at those. Otherwise if it is a temporary fix, then it is quite reasonable and much better than leaving the planes as they are.

I thought the cost of parking in SYD overnight is marginal compared to all other cost but the money made on freight is significant and the actual reason for the extra hop. Might be wrong though..

Spot on, EK do very well from the freight, while passenger loads are poor across the ditch, which may change when Jetconnect folds if the rumour is correct.
